Notley Abbey

We held our wedding ceremony and reception with you on the 4th May. It was undoubtedly the best day of our lives. Having exclusive use of the venue was so important to us, and our guests were so impressed with the building, grounds, staff and delicious food. Many guests told us it was the best wedding food they have ever eaten (I agree it was fantastic!)

The day was seamless, and staff went to every effort to make sure Tom and I were happy, fed and watered. The staff were so fantastic, it almost felt like there were no staff there because everything was turned around so seamlessly and everything seemed to flow perfectly. A huge thank you to our day coordinator, Julie, and all the staff on the day.

Words can’t fully capture how perfect the experience was. From the moment we arrived until the very last guest left, the staff made sure everything ran beyond smoothly. We truly felt taken care of, supported, and stress-free throughout the entire day. A special shoutout to Natalie and Ellie, who were absolutely wonderful – calm, kind, and so on top of every detail, as well as Maisie, who helped us in the lead-up to it. Notley Abbey gave us not just a wedding venue, but the wedding we had imagined, brought to life in the most seamless and beautiful way. Our wedding day was beyond what we had dreamed of. The venue was stunning. The staff, especially Ellie and Maura, were incredibly helpful and really did minimise our stress. They were incredibly attentive and took good care of each of us, our families and the rest of the guests. The service throughout the day and night was impeccable. To top it all off, the food was tasty. The preferred suppliers that we used, combined with the beauty of Notley Abbey and the attentiveness of the Notley Abbey staff, made our day truly special. Many of our guests told us this was the best wedding they have ever been to!

Dan and I had a wonderful wedding on Sunday and wanted to thank each one of you for delivering a fantastic experience for us and our guests.

Everything went smoothly, which meant that Dan and I could relax and enjoy our day. Thank you to Emily for the immense work before the wedding day and to both managers on the day. We felt your care in looking after us and your professionalism in managing last-minute changes. Thank you.

We received a lot of compliments for the food and drinks, and we personally found everything delicious. The Arancini and the Gnocchi, in particular, have received praise from all – and you had a tough Italian crowd, so kudos to the chefs! Thank you to all the staff, waiters, barman, room cleaners and everyone in between. Each person we crossed paths with on the day was so professional and friendly and delivered a high standard of service. Thank you to all.

To all the staff at Harper Weddings and Notley Abbey, from the bottom of our hearts, we would both like to say thank you for everything you have done for us in the run up to our wedding and on the actual wedding day itself. You have given us the perfect day for the rest of our lives and we are so grateful. The professionalism of all the staff, the dedication to the little details and the quality of service made our day incredibly special, and it ran like clock work which for a worrier like me was very reassuring. You have always gone the extra mile by letting us visit whenever we liked, you’ve always been quick at replying to emails and you also went out of your way to provide post cards and sticks of rock for us. We’d like to give special mentions to Ann and Jess, who are both a credit to your staff and who made our day the perfect day that it was. We cannot thank Notley Abbey and all of its staff enough for the most wonderful wedding day. To say you go above and beyond is an understatement. Right from the initial viewings, planning meetings and tastings, we were completely at ease because it was clear that you were extremely experienced and we had no doubts that our special day would be exactly that. The planning tool was fantastic – it gave us the ability to interactive with you regularly and your responsiveness and willingness to adapt to bespoke ideas was exceptional.

I could not fault anything on the day itself. We arrived, unpacked cars and before we knew it, everything had been taken to the right rooms. You had clearly taken note of our design ideas and plans as all the decorations had been laid out perfectly. I cannot praise Lisa and Barbara enough. Ladies – you were beyond amazing and we couldn’t have done it without you. You were calm, friendly and warming and you made sure everything went to plan. There are not enough words to describe how thankful we are to both of you for everything you did.

We would thoroughly recommend Notley Abbey and Harper Weddings to anyone. Your service is nothing short of exemplary and the team work is incredible to see. Thank you to everyone – we loved it so much, we’d do it all over again!

Having researched and visited multiple venues, we decided on Notley Abbey after a recommendation. There may be cheaper options out there, but why take the chance on sub-standard quality for your big day? That’s the view we took, and we now have our memories of an amazing day to cherish forever.

The service on the day was absolutely exquisite. It was raining heavily on arrival, but the team on-site was waiting for us with umbrellas. And they were by our side every step of the way thereafter. You don’t know what to expect from the service on the day until you experience it for yourself, and it honestly exceeded our best expectations. Fortunately, the clouds parted in time for the ceremony in the beautiful monks’ refectory, and we celebrated with bubbles and canapés in the sunshine in the gorgeous grounds of Notley Abbey. Our guests were blown away.

The online planner takes some getting used to initially, but the team is on hand for a phone call to help while you get used to it. We honestly cannot find a fault with how the team performed. It was flawless. If you’re considering this venue and Harper Weddings for your wedding, don’t hesitate any longer and place your trust in them; you won’t regret it.

We got married at Notley Abbey, and we had the most breathtaking day.

The venue is incredibly beautiful. Every detail has been meticulously designed and the staff are incredibly dedicated in wanting to give you a perfect day from start to finish. In the two years of planning, we received detailed, helpful responses to our questions, normally within hours of the messages being sent. As a part of our package, we had multiple in-person or Zoom meetings to support us with the planning process. The planning team worked seamlessly alongside us to make our vision for our day come to life. On the day, everything ran like clockwork. The staff were professional and courteous and showed such a wonderful level of excitement for us. Thank you so much to the whole team at Notley/Harper for giving us the perfect day.

The day was amazing; from the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Gemma, who showed me to the bridal suite and had some bubbles brought to the room. We wanted to get married outside and decided on the Walled Garden, and she made it happen. She didn’t try to convince us to have it inside, as it was already set up. She was our go-to on the day, ensuring whatever we needed at all times (a drink, canapes, etc). Julie was behind the scenes making sure everything was executed exactly as per our wishes in the planner.
