Founded as a monastery in 1145, Newburgh Priory is a magnificent stately home surrounded by extensive grounds, lakes and ancient woodland, nestled outside the picturesque estate village of Coxwold.
Steeped in history and set in An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the house provides uninterrupted views across the lake to the Hambleton Hills and the White Horse of Kilburn.
The house’s monastic past and its subsequent almost 500 year history as a much loved family home creates marvellous serenity and warmth to it as a wedding venue.
Say your vows or enjoy a blessing/humanist ceremony in one of three stunning, elegant Georgian rooms in the house, or outside in the atmospheric, historic Long Gallery Ruin – with arched doorways, fig trees and ivy clad walls.
Exclusively Yours; enjoy dinner and dancing by the lake or on the ancient lawns. The Priory benefits from nearly 40 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens with formal lawns, stunning topiary and wonderful borders. This is balanced by sweeping informal lawns and woodlands which offer plenty of space and a tranquil haven for your guests. Dotted throughout the grounds are several hidden romantic gardens, such as the magical Water Garden and the historic Walled Garden.
The house, grounds and lake provide a stunning backdrop for your photographs with limitless opportunities. Totally secluded and a truly rural backdrop, you are guaranteed everlasting memories and photographs to last you a lifetime.
Fantastic wedding venue! Newburgh was the first venue we looked at and after over 20 venues, nothing compared to it so we got booking fast! The team were incredible in the run up to the day, helping out with any questions we had. Newburgh took care of every little detail – they clearly know what they are doing! We loved the fact that there was a lot of flexibility in the planning stages and it was our venue for the weekend, so not crammed in between a wedding the day before and after. The photos we have from in and around the grounds are stunning and it felt incredible to have our own beautiful house and grounds for the best day of our lives! The ruins were just perfect for our canapés and champagne reception and everyone commented how beautiful it was and the vast lawns proved perfect for the numerous children! Thank you for everything you did and I cannot recommend it more! The best Memories!
Newburgh Priory holds a civil ceremony license so you can say vows in one of three Georgian rooms inside the House with a maximum of 100 guests or outside a ceremony for 300 can be hosted.
