The Setting
Founded as a monastery in 1145, Newburgh Priory is a magnificent stately home surrounded by extensive grounds, lakes and ancient woodland, nestled outside the picturesque estate village of Coxwold.
Steeped in history and set in An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the house provides uninterrupted views across the lake to the Hambleton Hills and the White Horse of Kilburn.
The house’s monastic past and its subsequent almost 500 year history as a much loved family home creates marvellous serenity and warmth to it as a wedding venue.
The Vibe
Say your vows or enjoy a blessing/humanist ceremony in one of three stunning, elegant Georgian rooms in the house, or outside in the atmospheric, historic Long Gallery Ruin – with arched doorways, fig trees and ivy clad walls.
Exclusively Yours; enjoy dinner and dancing by the lake or on the ancient lawns. The Priory benefits from nearly 40 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens with formal lawns, stunning topiary and wonderful borders. This is balanced by sweeping informal lawns and woodlands which offer plenty of space and a tranquil haven for your guests. Dotted throughout the grounds are several hidden romantic gardens, such as the magical Water Garden and the historic Walled Garden.
The house, grounds and lake provide a stunning backdrop for your photographs with limitless opportunities. Totally secluded and a truly rural backdrop, you are guaranteed everlasting memories and photographs to last you a lifetime.
