From start to finish, the Matara centre and, in particular, Olivia were brilliant. We had a very particular vision for how we wanted our day to go, and Olivia and the team ensured that it happened exactly how we wanted! Staying in the house with our family the night before made everything so much more comfortable and relaxed – exactly what we wanted. The venue speaks for itself in terms of its beauty and unique elements. The many different spaces give couple so many options to make the day exactly what they want

Wow – I can’t even express how much of an amazing weekend we had. Your team were amazing, from the way they made us feel at ease and as if nothing was too much, to the beautiful decor and how they made the vision come to life. Everything was utterly perfect, Ed and I felt so incredibly lucky. We cannot thank you enough.

Please also pass on my thanks to Geoffrey, it’s such a special place, and we are so grateful that he opens it up for celebrations.

Additionally, Luke, everyone said the food was incredible (it really was!) and we know a lot of time, effort and his creativity went into each and every dish.

Thank you so much for everything! We are just soaking it all up and taking in married life. Remembering how epic every little detail was.

What can we say. From the moment we even looked at the website to setting foot at Matara for the first time, we were blown away. The only venue that asked us what we wanted rather than tell us what to do! Holly and Olivia were amazing throughout And Jean with the evening shift! An exquisite venue for our special day in November. I could walk around for days in awe of its beauty. Our guests were blown away with Matara and the food. Luke is a master in the kitchen! We are foodies and from day one he worked with us to get the menu to what we had dreamed of. Our dreams came true. The canapés and wedding breakfast were outstanding. Our guests said it’s the best food they have ever had at a wedding!

Where do we start! Holly and the team were just fantastic both on the day and in helping us get organised in the run up. Everything ran so calmly and so smoothly, it was exactly what we wanted. It just the most perfect day! Gorgeous venue, unbelievable food and a 5 star team of staff. Thank you all so much for helping to make our day so special.

To Olivia and The Matara Team, We cannot Thank you all enough for how special you helped make our special day! Everybody commented on the amazing food and the gorgeous, one-of-a-kind venue that we sure did fall in love with and will forever be such a special place to return back to, to visit the gardens and our tree! I wish we could do it all again.

Married July 2023

Matara is a really beautiful, special and unique venue. We got married there in March 2019 and hired Kingscote House for the weekend too. Our guests were able to fully explore the gardens and grounds, and everyone felt relaxed and at home there. Holly looked after us perefctly and all the staff were friendly, professional and helpful. Our wedding day went like a dream, the whole place was buzzing with love and light (the sunshine helped!). It’s the perfect backdrop for a more alternative ceremony, and you don’t have to do much to make it personal to you. It’s so peaceful there guests commented that it was the most relaxed they’d felt in ages.

From the moment we walked into Matara, it was clear that this was a special place. We decided to take the whole venue for our wedding weekend, surrounded by our family and close friends in the beautiful house, the pretty honeymoon cottage for our wedding night offering welcome privacy, and last but by no means least the venue itself which easily accommodated150+ guests in a variety of different areas, rooms, garden, courtyards etc. The staff we the essence of cheerful helpfulness during planning and they all excelled themselves at the event. From seemingly endless canapés, to perfect timing, and efficiency which made the whole day run smoothly. We enjoyed a fairytale wedding celebration.

I got married here in May and it was the most beautiful and magical place I came accross. Our dog was our ring bearer and after our service everyone went to the woodland area where me and my husband gave our vows, planted a tree and blessed crystals which represnted energy we wanted to bring into our marriage. The honeymoon lodge is beautiful and I’m so glad I had 2 nights there. There is just more beauty and magic around every corner. The staff amazingly helpful and enable you to make your day as you want it to be.

My husband and I were married here in April and from booking to planning and then our wedding day we had the most personal service and care. Holly was always one step ahead of my questions and nothing was too much trouble. Our day went perfectly all down to Holly, Steve, Luke and the rest of the staff. I felt so special, supported and not in the least nervous with all their care and attention to detail. Matara is such a beautifully spiritual and unique venue but the care given us made it perfect a once in a life time day. Our guests are still talking about our day and praising the amazing food, drink and location. Even lovelier for us we have returned twice since to visit the tree we planted as a wedding present by Matara. I can’t praise Matara enough thank you for the most beautiful day marrying my soulmate.

Our wedding at Matara was absolutely perfect! The venue itself is stunning. We got married by the main pond and it is a wonderful setting.
Our wedding coordinator, Holly, is fantastic. She was always on hand when we had questions and asked for meetings. And if she wasn’t available Abby took over and was just as good. We always felt in safe hands. On the day Holly did everything we asked for and more!

The chef (Luke) is amazing. From the first day we visited for tasters of the food we knew he would smash it. The food is incredible. All our guests commented on how good it was. They also commented on the venue and how beautiful it is there!

We were extremely lucky with a hot sunny day in September but the venue is stunning for a wedding any time of year.

We wanted to thank you for the most perfect day. I can’t quite believe we were lucky enough to have a wedding like it. Thank you for all of your help and attention to detail along the way and for ensuring the whole day came together as it did. Thank you for putting up the lanterns on Sunday afternoon, they looked so fab. I didn’t get to meet a lot of the team, but I am so grateful to everyone behind the scenes for making it so stress-free and making everything happen so seamlessly. Also, to Luke, the food was absolutely delicious all day – breakfast also set us up perfectly for the day!! Thank you for catering so well for our guests, it can’t be an easy thing to do, but everyone said how great the food was.

Matara is such a special place, and we will be back to visit soon. I’m already eyeing up the pizza nights! We went to Cornwall and got a keyring to put on our tree, and I think this will be a tradition we will keep up each year.

Married April 2025

We had the most wonderful day at Matara for a joint celebration of our daughters wedding and our Ruby anniversary. The house and the grounds provided such a beautiful setting for a joyful event. The planning beforehand was made very easy – Holly was relaxed and informative, and we were very impressed at the ease with which a day tailored to our ideas was achieved. The venue is so beautiful that we needed very little additional decoration. And to be able to use the wider grounds for games and strolling was a real bonus. The canapés, main meal, and evening munchies were all excellent, and the wedding staff were so very professional. Our day at Matara was joyful, exuberant, spiritual, and great fun. A wonderful place for a celebration.

Myself and my husband married at Matara in October 2019 but we first fell in love with Matara back in June 2018 and from our very first visit, we were incredibly excited to have our wedding there – and it didn’t disappoint! Amidst the stress of planning a wedding, the Matara Centre was the ideal space of zen and tranquility that stayed with us throughout our special day. What we loved so much about Matara was how incredibly unique it was, unlike any other venue we had ever visited. Throughout the planning, Geoffrey and his team were always so welcoming and attentive and Rebecca in particular on our special day was a huge help! We married at the St John the Baptist church just along the wooded path from Matara and even in the pouring English rain, it was a magical landscape. We stayed with friends and family for the whole weekend, occupying the house and zen rooms which took away any stress of logistics as everyone was already together in one place, and meant that the celebrations could begin even before the wedding did. The house in particular we all fell in love with and hope to return for celebrations one day again! Everything from the food (the white chocolate mousse is heavenly!), the fairy lights, the fire pit in courtyard, the Asian inspired walkways and colourful decorations meant our guests were truly relaxed and could enjoy a really magical day with us! I wish we could get married at Matara again and again! Ps. the tree dedication is a really special touch and we hope to return every anniversary to visit our planting!

We fell in love with Matara straight away and loved that they had a really varied and exciting food offering. The communication we received from the point of enquiry to after the wedding has been excellent, and the organisation of the day went very smoothly. Luke, the chef, gets a special mention for the excellent quality of food and massive portion sizes – our guests were blown away! We can’t wait to visit the tree that Matara planted for us and to relive our perfect day!

Married September 2023

Matara is such a magical place and so unique that nowhere else we viewed even came close. There’s something about its essence that can’t really be captured by pictures and videos, so do go and have a look around if you’re on the fence. The venue really surprised us on our first visit.

Our wedding coordinator, Holly, was super professional, responsive and passionate. You can tell that she and the rest of the team do actually love the weddings they help put on, and it really shows. I was getting a bit stressed about all the little details before our planning meeting a month before the wedding, but as soon as we sat down with Holly, I breathed a sigh of relief because I knew we were in good hands.

They were really patient with us and let us create our own bespoke vegan menu with Chef Luke, change the standard drinks package, sort out early check-in, let our dog attend, and lots of other little things which helped to make the day completely our own.

Our guests were amazed at the venue, really impressed by the staff and loved the catering. We couldn’t have asked for more! Can’t wait to come back on our anniversary.

Where to start. When my now husband and I viewed the Matara to be our wedding venue, we instantly fell in love with everything!

Before the wedding, we stayed in the house on site, and it was beautiful! It was so lovely to be near the place where the wedding was taking place, and it made it easy for our families to relax a bit the day before!

Come our wedding day, the whole team at the Matara were amazing at making sure we had a seamless experience. Liz, our wedding coordinator, made the process in the lead up to the wedding so easy, and on the day, she made the day run so smoothly! Our guests complimented everything from the venue to the amazing food that was served at the wedding! In particular, the Mac and cheese bites, which we can say were one of the best things we have ever eaten!

We are so happy and over the moon that we chose the Matara for our wedding venue, and I am sure we will be back in the years to come to relive our wedding day!

The team at Matara and Abbie, our wedding coordinator, provided us with an amazing, beautiful venue, friendly and calming guidance with our wedding planning, and prompt communication throughout the entire process. They were a pleasure to work with, alongside being very accommodating to our various specific needs and desires. The chef Luke fully accommodated our vegan wedding, and we are extremely grateful for the way the day turned out. Thank you, Matara, for giving us the wedding of our dreams. 10/10

Thanks for making the day go off without a hitch, we didn’t have to worry about a thing and that’s down to you. Luke, thanks for the incredible food! We have had so many compliments on how delicious the food was! Thanks for catering to our random request. The empanadas and churros in the evening were fantastic! Steve, thank you for looking after us late into the evening, you were lovely to be around and had a smile on your face right until the end even when those who had celebrated a bit too hard caused you to tidy up after them, you didn’t let us worry about it! Sorry again for them and thank you! The venue is so beautiful and gave us the perfect wedding. We fell in love with it when we first saw it and will now have a place in our hearts. Can’t recommend Matara highly enough.
