About
Setting

On the north-eastern fringe of Dartmoor National Park, Lewtrenchard Manor sits within a landscape shaped by time. The manor dates back to 1626, and its setting reflects that sense of permanence: formal gardens, mature trees, and wide lawns that frame the house and soften its grandeur. Step outside and the mood shifts with the seasons, from spring light across the lawns to autumn colour along the garden paths. Inside, the building retains its original character through wood panelling, stained glass, and ornate ceilings, all carefully restored to feel comfortable rather than museum-like. It’s a place where history is present in every detail, yet never overwhelming, offering couples a setting that feels atmospheric and quietly impressive.

Ceremony

Ceremonies at Lewtrenchard Manor take place in the ballroom, a licensed space for up to 80 guests. Designed to feel both formal and welcoming, it suits everything from classic styling to a more understated approach. High ceilings and period detailing give the room a sense of occasion, while its proportions keep the atmosphere focused and intimate. With the rest of the house close at hand, the day flows naturally from vows to drinks, without guests needing to move far or wait long between moments.

Lewtrenchard Manor is a dog-friendly venue that welcomes well-behaved dogs to the celebration.

Reception

After the ceremony, the manor opens up for celebration. Drinks are usually served in the bar and lounge, where wood panelling and comfortable seating encourage guests to settle in and relax. The Origin Restaurant, adjoining these spaces, hosts wedding breakfasts for up to 80 guests and brings a warm, characterful backdrop to the meal. As evening arrives, the focus returns to the ballroom for dancing and conversation, keeping everything under one roof. The house works particularly well for exclusive-use weddings, allowing guests to move easily between rooms and enjoy the manor as if it were their own.

Accommodation

Lewtrenchard Manor offers on-site accommodation for up to 32 guests across 16 individually styled bedrooms. Located within the main manor house, the courtyard, and the folly, each room reflects a country-living feel while offering modern comfort. Having guests stay on site extends the celebration beyond the wedding day itself, from relaxed breakfasts the next morning to quiet moments shared before everyone departs. For couples, it also means the rare luxury of ending the night just a few steps from the celebration, without the need for travel or logistics.

Food & Drink

Food plays a central role at Lewtrenchard Manor, with a choice of three food and drink packages designed to suit different styles of celebration and budgets. Whether you prefer something pared back or more generous, the approach remains thoughtful and flexible. Menus can be tailored to accommodate allergies and dietary requirements, with the kitchen team working closely with the wedding coordinator to ensure every guest is considered. In addition to the main dining spaces, the Purple Carrot restaurant offers private dining for smaller groups, ideal for intimate gatherings or pre-wedding meals. Throughout the day, food and drink are treated as part of the experience, not an add-on.
