About
Setting

Leeds Castle is the perfect venue for your dream wedding in Kent. Set within acres of stunning Kentish countryside, the Castle offers an enchanting backdrop for your special day. Rising gracefully from its moat, the historic Castle is surrounded by 500 acres of lush parkland and meticulously maintained gardens, creating a romantic atmosphere that is both breathtaking and timeless.

Ceremony

A range of ceremony spaces is available, from grand indoor rooms to scenic outdoor locations. The Castle features a refined Ceremony Room adorned with soft pastel hues, large French windows, and views of the moat and parkland. It can accommodate up to 100 guests. Couples can also opt for the Grand Salon or the Castle Celebrations Room.

The Maiden’s Tower offers a private 16th-century setting with two elegant wedding rooms and an enclosed walled garden for a more intimate atmosphere. This space is ideal for outdoor ceremonies or pre-reception drinks and can accommodate up to 80 guests.

For smaller celebrations, Battel Hall, a 14th-century manor house set within ancient woodland, offers a charmingly secluded option for up to 30 guests.

Outdoor ceremonies can take place on Castle Island, Pavilion Lawn, or Cedar Lawn. Castle Island presents the Castle as a dramatic backdrop, while the Pavilion Lawn overlooks parkland. Cedar Lawn, surrounded by greenery, is ideal for larger ceremonies. Outdoor events can host up to 100 guests, with a capacity for up to 500 for larger cultural or bespoke celebrations.

Reception

Wedding receptions at Leeds Castle are as versatile as they are memorable. The Grand Salon, which can accommodate up to 120 guests for an elegant evening reception, features a French Caen stone fireplace, ebony flooring, and views of the moat and parkland.

The Maiden’s Tower provides a more intimate setting for up to 100 guests, with exclusive use of the tower until midnight, creating a private, memorable evening celebration.

Battel Hall offers a charming reception space for up to 18 guests for smaller gatherings, ideal for an intimate celebration.

Larger receptions can be hosted at Fairfax Barn, a 17th-century timber-framed barn with rustic charm. This space, which can accommodate up to 200 guests, is perfect for guests transitioning from a ceremony at the Castle or Maiden’s Tower.

For outdoor receptions, couples can choose the Pavilion Lawn or Cedar Lawn, with the option of marquee spaces accommodating up to 500 guests. Both offer picturesque settings with ample flexibility for personalisation.

Accommodation

The Castle offers several options for accommodation. Twenty bedrooms are available within the Castle, including eight luxurious State Rooms furnished with period antiques, marble en-suites, and views of the moat and parkland. Guests may even stay in a traditional four-poster bed.

The Maiden’s Tower features five individually designed bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and scenic views of the Castle estate, blending period charm with modern comfort.

The Stable Courtyard offers 17 individually designed en-suite rooms within the Castle gardens, just a short walk from the Castle Island.

The estate’s Cottages offer scenic woodland views and relaxed accommodation for those seeking a home-away-from-home experience. Battel Hall includes five bedrooms and two additional rooms at Battel Oast for a more exclusive retreat.

Additional accommodation options on the estate include the picturesque Lakeside Lodges and the cosy Knights’ Retreat, both perfect for hosting members of your wedding party in a unique setting.

Food & Drink

Couples can tailor the dining experience to suit their unique style. Leeds Castle allows the choice of preferred caterers, offering flexibility to create a bespoke menu. Whether it’s a multi-course dinner, a creative fusion of cuisines, or a lavish buffet, dishes are prepared by top-tier culinary professionals using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients.

Getting There

Leeds Castle is located 7 miles east of Maidstone, easily accessible from Junction 8 of the M20 motorway. It is just one hour from London and 30 minutes from the Channel Tunnel and Channel Ports.

By train, Southeastern operates services to Bearsted and Hollingbourne stations. By air, Gatwick Airport is a 45-minute drive, while Heathrow Airport is approximately 1.5 hours away.

“

I genuinely and wholeheartedly believe there is no other venue like Leeds Castle. And yes, the venue itself speaks volumes – it’s beautiful, historic, grand and cosy! But really, the staff absolutely made our wedding day! They were so kind, so thoughtful, so friendly and complimentary. I’ve always said it’s people, not places, that are special and Leeds Castle is no different… although, let’s be honest, the venue is pretty special too!

From start to finish, Katie and Sam were so welcoming and on hand for any questions we had. The location was just perfect, the rooms were amazing, and the grounds were perfect for our group. We didn’t see the kids all weekend, 2.5 and 6 years old, as they were exploring in safe and secure gardens. Chris, our butler, was the man you just want to take home with you; we all need a Chris in our lives. Please view the location as you won’t be disappointed and will book; we viewed on the Saturday and booked on the Monday. So glad this was our choice as it wouldn’t have been the same anywhere else. We even moved the service outside on the morning of the wedding, which was no trouble and arranged with no fuss. The staff truly make it all about your day. A very grateful bride and groom

We had an amazing wedding at Leeds Castle back in May. The whole team from beginning to end were fantastic, and the day was made effortless. The organisation of all of our guests, those staying and those not, was seamless. Katie’s calm and professional demeanour helped in the leadup and nothing was too much effort to put us at ease. Everyone had an amazing time on the day, and couldn’t stop commenting on how stunning the venue was. We can’t wait to return!

A castle wedding was always our dream, and Leeds Castle delivered!

During every stage of the planning process, the team at Leeds Castle provided the best guidance and support; you truly felt you were in good hands. On the day, the events management team was outstanding and took exceptional care of all our guests and us – every detail was flawless, and we truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The whole occasion was everything we dreamed of, and it honestly felt so perfect that we wish we could relive it all over again! We cannot recommend Leeds Castle highly enough. Thank you to everyone who made our day so special!

What an amazing location, so beautiful and secure.

All our party loved it, and the staff were so amazing and helpful. We moved our service outside during the day, and it was no trouble and done as we needed. Chris, our butler, was discreet but there for anything we needed. This location is a must to view, and you will book as soon as you do. Such a perfect location

We got married at Battel Hall, an intimate wedding venue on the Leeds Castle estate. The contact from Leeds Castle was excellent before the wedding, and they provided an Event Manager on the day to ensure everything ran smoothly.

It suited us so well; it’s beautiful and full of character. We chose to get married outside under the ‘Bower’, but ceremonies can also take place inside. It was perfect as we and our guests could stay there for three nights, so it felt very comfortable, and the accommodation was outstanding. We were able to dress it personally for the wedding with beautiful floristry. The venue is intimate with both inside and outside seating areas. We had so many compliments on our choice of venue, some stating it was the best wedding they’d ever been to!

What you cannot possibly know when you’re choosing your wedding venue is how it’s going to feel on the day. I can honestly say we were blown away by the amazing professionalism , attention to detail and kindness of the Leeds Castle team. We felt like royalty on the day, and so many of our guests felt so comfortable; it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to.

When we visited the Leeds Castle grounds looking for a wedding venue, it was love at first sight for us. We knew instantly this had to be our wedding location. The staff were very friendly and showed us around the different options and locations and explained their pricing range. We felt well prepared to make a decision. In the end, we chose the Maiden’s Tower for our wedding ceremony and the Fairfax Barn for our wedding breakfast, with Graysons (on-site vendors) catering the meal. The process leading up to the wedding was mostly smooth, and the assigned coordinator was always on hand to answer questions and give us support. The entire team were fairly easy to get hold of, well knowledgeable in the ins and outs and always willing to have a discussion to resolve any issues. On the day, we were met with nothing but professionalism. From the golf cart drivers who were there to support our less mobile guests and help carry all our luggage, to the staff catering the day (Nan was extra happy with the care she received), to the evening staff, everything was smooth and easy. Our guests were left extremely happy, complimenting the day and the service received. The guests who also stayed overnight were overjoyed with their rooms and the castle experience, with lots of them saying they would want to visit again. We both highly recommend Leeds Castle as a wedding venue.

We got married at Leeds Castle in August and it was perfect! The castle was stunning, and everything we had hoped for, but the Leeds Castle Team really made the day special. They were super professional from the beginning and did everything with a smile. They also made the day completely stress free which is every bride’s dream! I would also like to thank Katie, who helped and answered my many questions leading up to the day.

FAQs
Do all Venue Hire Packages include exclusive use?

Exclusive use of the Castle is available through the Exclusive Use Wedding Venue Hire Package only. Similarly, the Battel Hall Venue Hire Package provides exclusive use of Battel Hall, while the Maiden's Tower Package offers exclusive access to Maiden's Tower for your special day.

Can I use my own florist?

We work with three nominated Florists; Louise Roots, Floral Explosions and Chic Weddings. Only these suppliers can provide fresh flowers and real candles in the venue. You are welcome to source your personal flowers (bouquets and buttonholes) externally.

Is confetti allowed?

Due to the nature of the building and the large number of wildlife within the grounds, we cannot permit confetti of any kind. However, you are welcome to have blowing bubbles as an alternative (outdoor use only).

Do I have to book a supplier from your list?

We require you to use one of our nominated caterers, florist, fireworks provider and drone videographer. You can use suppliers not on this list for any other service. Please check with your Wedding Coordinator before booking any services to ensure it is permitted.

Who sets up the room?

Our teams will set up the tables and chairs for your wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast. They will also assist with placing your name cards, menu cards, table favours and table plan for the wedding breakfast. We would ask you to nominate a member of your wedding party to place any additional items you provide. Due to time restrictions, this can only commence one and a half hours prior to your ceremony. We require a full list of the items in advance of your day.

Do you allow corkage?

We ask that you discuss this with our nominated Caterers. If they are unable to offer corkage, they may still be able to source the product for you.

Do we have to leave immediately after check out?

Not at all! Once you have checked out of your bedrooms, you are able to store your luggage in your cars and then make the most of the beautiful Leeds Castle estate . No better excuse for a wander round than to clear your head the morning after and reminisce on the excitement of the day before!

Can I have balloons?

Helium balloons, ice sculptures, silly string, dry ice/smoke machines or foam are not permitted

Can I book a bedroom to stay the night before?

Yes, you can! We have Stable Courtyard bed and breakfast bedrooms (subject to availability), and you can book up to a maximum of 3 bedrooms. Please speak to your Wedding Coordinator for further details.

Can I have photographs around the Leeds Castle grounds?

Yes! During your reception, you are welcome to have your group photographs with family and friends in the Maiden's Tower garden. Then, the two of you can jump on the golf buggy for more intimate photographs in some of the most breathtaking locations around the estate.
