Rustic and romantic, Lains Barn offers a whole host of indoor and outdoor areas for couples and their guests to enjoy. The timber-framed space features a stunning main barn, festoon light-lined gallery, custom-built bar, beautiful tiled floor, and large wooden doors that open onto a lawned courtyard, ideal for outdoor celebrations and ceremonies.
Lains is a family-run venue, and the team has over 50 years of experience in catering, weddings, and events. They offer couples a wealth of knowledge and support to ensure the big day runs perfectly. You can always expect a warm reception when you visit Lains; they pride themselves on a friendly approach and passion for what they do.
Couples getting married at Lains become a part of its rich, 270-year history. Dating back to 1750, the barn originally had its roots in agriculture. The barn is plenty big enough for up to 150 guests seated for a ceremony indoors or for a summer wedding; couples can opt for a ceremony on the manicured lawn, followed by dining and dancing in the main barn, with its doors thrown open and the sun streaming in.
Step into the stunning main barn, a generous space replete with original rustic features (think wooden beams and a unique tiled floor) blended with thoughtfully chosen, contemporary furnishings. You’ll be surrounded by cosy, furnished booths-perfect for the party later on.
Wander over to the custom-built bar and festoon-lit seating area and then out into the covered open byre-the ideal outdoor space, come rain or shine. There, you’ll find Lains’ legendary pizza oven and parrilla grills, where evening pizzas and snacks are cooked and served while your guests watch on with a drink in hand.
Just a couple of minutes’ drive from Lains Barn is Barton House, a beautiful Georgian manor run by the same family. Couples getting married at the barn have the special option of staying here. The house can accommodate up to 18 guests.
Executive chef Tom Sherry leads the Lains catering team. Tom forged his culinary skills in Michelin-rated kitchens and among some of the country’s best event caterers. Celebrities, executives and leaders have enjoyed his food from across the world.
The menus have been curated with seasonality and variety in mind, whether preparing a fine dining banquet or firing up the pizza oven and Argentinian grills for an evening under the stars. Tom also happens to be part of the family running Lains Barn!
Lains is located near the charming market town of Wantage, with a breathtaking backdrop of the North Wessex Downs’ rolling hills. It is a quintessentially rural setting in the heart of Oxfordshire.
The barn is easily accessible by road and has great links to the M4 and M40. Didcot train station is just 10 minutes away, and you can get into London in under 40 minutes.
