Hilltop Country House

I don’t know where to start with the words to begin and describe how amazing this venue and the team who run it are!

On our first visit to Hilltop, we fell in love with the surroundings, the gardens, the views, the house, the marquee… just EVERYTHING. We loved the homely and family-run nature of the business.

We subsequently married at Hilltop in late February 2023 and could not have asked for a more perfect venue. Our day was just fabulous from start to finish, and Clare and her team could not have been more accommodating or on hand whenever we needed guidance. Clare was incredible and went out of her way to tailor our wedding to make it how we wanted it and was always on hand whenever we needed her.

The day couldn’t have run more smoothly; the team went above and beyond in every aspect to make our day magical. Our guests cannot stop talking about the venue, the party and the food! Chef Iain changed the menu to accommodate everyone, and we felt like the menu had been made just for us.

The bar, variety of cocktails on offer (thank you to the staff!), and boogie room were all great, and everyone commented on how amazing the venue and atmosphere were.

We have created some incredible memories which will remain with us forever. There is a reason Hilltop has been voted the best wedding venue in Cheshire; we cannot recommend it enough!

We had the best day ever and couldn’t have done it without you. Everything was so well organised and executed, the day ran so smoothly, and each of our guests had the best day (many people have said the best wedding ever). All the food was absolutely amazing, and thank you for perfectly creating what we hoped for! The dancefloor was packed all night which is exactly what we wanted, and the boogie room was a huge hit-someone said it was like being in a nightclub with all your best friends!

We cannot speak highly enough about our whole experience at Hilltop Country House. It’s a family-run business, and you feel welcomed by every member – it’s a lovely, seamless dynamic. The team were simply fantastic from the start to the end. They made the experience fun and took away any stress – this came through in the relaxed nature of the wedding.

We were concerned that it would be cold in the marquee at the start of January, but I can assure you that this was not the case – the temperature was spot on. Iain cooked a fantastic meal; you wouldn’t have known that he was doing it on mass, every piece of lamb was perfectly pink, and we got so many compliments. They also catered amazingly for those who are vegan (again, multiple compliments about the vegan curry) and those with food allergies. The bar staff were super friendly, and it was a big bonus for them to make proper cocktails, including decaffeinated espresso martinis for those who treasure their sleep!

The boogie room worked perfectly, allowing the older generation to chat in the marquee, meaning they stayed to the bitter end. A handful of us could stay at the venue, meaning those with children could put them to bed, knowing they would be safe while they continued to party. It was a bonus having breakfast with those who stayed over, allowing us to reminisce about the night before.

From the minute we first visited Hilltop, we knew it was the venue for us. We knew the staff at Hilltop would make the biggest difference to our day, which is so important when choosing a venue. Unlike many other venues, everything is included, and having things like the DJ and catering arranged by them made the whole process so much easier and stress-free.

We absolutely loved our tasting event in November. Once again, the staff hosted the perfect evening, and getting a real sense and taste of what our wedding day would be like was amazing.

Emil the DJ was brilliant! He completely handled all the sound systems throughout the day, from microphones to liaising with our singer, and he kept the party going all night. The whole process of organising our music choices was also so easy. Being allowed into the venue a couple of days before the wedding to set up was such a huge help. We know many venues don’t allow access until the morning of the wedding, but once again Hilltop went above and beyond for us. On the day itself, Leah was an absolute diamond. The weather was unpredictable, and she left the decision until the very last minute before moving our outdoor ceremony inside with an incredibly quick turnaround. Despite the changes, everything still looked beautiful, and all our guests were happy and comfortable. Honestly, you would never have known it wasn’t the original plan. So many of our guests commented on how amazing Leah was throughout the day, how hard she worked, and how much she did to make everything run perfectly. We will never truly be able to express how grateful we are for her and what a genuinely gorgeous person she is.

All of the Hilltop staff on the day were amazing — from the bar staff to the waiting staff and everyone else involved. So many of our guests commented on how polite, helpful, and friendly everyone was. We truly believe this made the biggest difference to our day. Nothing was ever too much trouble for anyone.

The food was perfect, the personalised cocktails were absolutely unreal, and every detail from Hilltop was incredible. Luca’s attention to detail behind the bar was amazing — even creating personalised bitters in advance for our cocktails, which was such a special touch. Even all of our vendors commented on how friendly, welcoming, and helpful the Hilltop team were, and how well looked after they felt throughout the day. The breakfast the next morning was gorgeous, and we were so grateful to the team for packing up our entire reception into labelled boxes, which made the following morning so much easier. We genuinely cannot thank everyone at Hilltop enough for making our special day so perfect. When choosing your wedding venue, the staff and team are just as important, if not more important, than the venue itself, and we truly chose the best.

Married May 2026

Pure magic from start to finish!

We had our dream wedding here over the August bank holiday weekend, and it was truly the most perfect, love-filled day we could have ever imagined. After 16 wonderfully happy years together, we were looking for somewhere that felt warm, welcoming, and truly homely—and this incredible venue gave us all of that and more.

Like a true British summer, the weather had other plans for our outdoor ceremony! But the team turned what could have been a stress into absolute magic. The indoor setup was breathtaking, and the transition into the gorgeous marquee for our wedding breakfast was so seamless we barely even noticed it happening.

We owe the biggest thank you to Leah, who was an absolute angel. She radiated so much care and attention, making sure every single guest felt looked after and completely at home throughout the entire day.

The food was out of this world! But the ultimate, sweetest detail was walking into our cosy bridal suite after dancing the night away to find a warm, heart-shaped pizza waiting just for us. It was the absolute cherry on top of an unforgettable night.

After 16 years, we already felt like family, but celebrating our love in a place that radiated so much warmth made it feel like a fairy tale. We will cherish these memories forever!

Married August 2026

Chris and I would like to say a huge big thanks for all your help and support on our special day. We cannot thank you enough for sharing your beautiful home with us and our guests to make the most magical day.

It felt very touch and go with the weather, and you turned everything around for us, making it feel just as special inside whilst giving us the best opportunity for an outdoor wedding until the last minute. Some of our guests commented how special it felt inside and very intimate even with 100 guests.

We knew from our first visit that this was the venue for us and nothing compared to when we visited other places. We felt so relaxed on every visit and could tell how much you love your home too.

All the staff were so welcoming and helpful at all times. Iain provided us with a menu to suit our tastes, Cameron kept the drinks flowing all night, and Emil kept a check on the music/band, so it all went swimmingly.

The house and the garden are beautiful, and the marquee and boogie room are perfect.

From start to finish, our experience getting married at Hilltop has been utterly fantastic. It was the first and only venue we looked at, as we fell in love with it instantly. I still remember our first visit with Clare showing us around the house and grounds. She is so warm, calm, witty, professional and clearly an expert at what she does. We knew from that first day we were going to be looked after well! We both remember how it instantly felt like home, and the Winnie the Pooh illustrations, sheep and cows in the surrounding fields and Penny the resident cat all just added to the reasons it was perfect for us!

All the staff at Hilltop were brilliant, and all our guests commented on how friendly and helpful the serving and bar staff were. The grounds and gardens are immaculate and just the most beautiful relaxed place to spend your wedding day.

Another thing that really shines at Hilltop is the food and drink! The menu choices, the local produce, and it’s all just delicious. We are a big foody family, and we were blown away by the quality (and quantity) of the food. We had a lovely tasting evening earlier in the year and knew we were in for a treat. Our guests all commented on how brilliant the food was, from canapés to wedding breakfast to the evening pizzas! Icing of the cake was them sourcing a load of Coke Zeros for me for the welcome drinks, creating a bespoke cocktail based on our cat and the staff having a heart-shaped pizza delivered to the bridal suite for us before we went to bed.

What stood out most to me is how Hilltop made it feel like our wedding was the only one taking place- like it was the one and only event they had to run that year and all the focus was on us- whilst also having the calm, professional competence and expertise that they do this every day and that we were in the safest hands. Hilltop really feels like a home and was the perfect setting for our wedding. It will always be a special place for us, and we are forever grateful to Leah, Clare and all the wonderful team who made our wedding day so magical.

Married September 2025

We got married in July at the magical Hilltop. Our wedding was just perfect. The house, garden and marquee look more beautiful than ever, and the outdoor bar and pizza oven are a fantastic addition.

Clare looked after us well and calmed our nerves in the build-up; she is immensely organised and treats each wedding with great care and pride. I cannot praise her enough.

I must also, like every one of my friends that I have seen since we married, say how incredible the food was; they have all repeatedly mentioned how much they loved it. Iain is a fantastic chef.

We were thrilled with the bar’s excellent service and a wide variety of choices, and we loved having our personalised wedding cocktail, such a charming individual touch to our wedding day.

We recommend Hilltop Country House so highly. Your wedding is one of the biggest and most important days of your life, and when you marry at Hilltop, it will be the day you’ve both been dreaming of.

We loved Hilltop so much! Everyone was so helpful, accommodating, flexible, and supportive. They are professionals and amazing people. They will make it the best day for you; they know how. I wish we could do our wedding every year!

So many of our guests commented on the beautiful venue, the warm welcome, the brilliant food and how accommodating your team were.

We are so grateful to everyone who came to Mum’s aid; it was a real team effort to care for her, and we are so thankful that she could continue the day with us. We know Iain must have been worried about the delay with food, but it was just beautiful.

The pizzas were incredible, with many guests saying they were the best they had ever had. One of your staff sent us to bed with the final staff pizza and pints of water – it was very much appreciated!

Cam made our cocktails beautifully, and having a cocktail that we hadn’t been able to taste in years was such a treat! The guests certainly kept the bar team busy, whilst Cam kept Alice well topped up with gin throughout the evening too!

The dance floor was packed all evening, with Emil knowing how to keep the party alive; the atmosphere was magical, surrounded by the smiles of so many family, friends and colleagues.

The day was everything we had wished for and more. We know it won’t be goodbye, as we have plans to come and stay with you in the future, a lovely way to remember and relive some of those memories.

I just wanted to say how amazing the venue was; we couldn’t have asked for better; it was perfect. All of the guests have said that the detail in everything and the venue was stunning, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We want to say a big thank you to you and your fantastic team at Hilltop. Planning a wedding from the other side of the world was made easy thanks to you and all your help. We want to thank Iain for bringing our menu to life and Jordan for sourcing a selection of South Australian wines. It was the perfect English country wedding, and we couldn’t have asked for a better day.

Where do I start!? We had our wedding here in August, and it was just perfect. From the moment we viewed the venue, Clare was attentive, reassuring and calm. She wasn’t pushy and didn’t try and encourage you to hire this, hire that, take yourself over budget etc. She worked with us to ensure we had the perfect day, within our budget and to our liking- giving us tips and tricks along the way. Louie also did a fantastic job at helping us pick our alcohol, and the chef’s food was to die for.

If ever I was worried, had a question or needed to talk, Clare was there.

The day ran so smoothly, and that’s down to every staff member- Clare, Cameron, the servers, Emil the DJ, Liv, the cleaning staff, the bar staff- everyone ( sorry if I’ve missed anyone). I was so nervous in the bridal suite when walking to the aisle, but Clare reassured me it would all be fine… and it was! It was perfect.

I can’t explain the beautiful grounds until you see them in person and the perfect rooms.

Stress-free all around- even when we came downstairs the morning after the wedding, there was a gorgeous breakfast, and everything was tidied up, ready to take home for us.

You won’t regret picking Hilltop if you choose it as your venue- reviews and awards reflect that. Everyone has said how amazing the day was.

I’d also recommend Joe Gardner for your photographer- kind, skilled, non-intrusive and can’t do enough for you!
