About
Setting

Hidden away on the Cranborne Chase, this private woodland wedding venue sits within the earthworks of an ancient Iron Age hillfort, creating a setting unlike anywhere else. Ancient woodland, meadows, lakes and open countryside surround the site, while the hillfort’s sweeping ramparts naturally enclose the ceremony space.

Although wonderfully secluded, the venue is just a mile from the A303, making it remarkably easy to reach from London and the South West. Exclusive use allows couples to shape the weekend entirely around their own plans, whether that’s a relaxed gathering with family or a larger celebration stretching across two days.

Ceremony

Ceremonies take place beneath the woodland canopy, reached by a grass path winding through dappled light before opening beneath a willow arch. Guests are seated on sheepskin-covered gabion benches filled with logs, while vows are exchanged beneath a silver birch gazebo, all handcrafted from timber grown on the estate.

Couples are free to hold a celebrant-led ceremony or invite a friend or family member to lead proceedings. For those looking to add a memorable moment, it’s also possible to arrive on horseback or have a trained barn owl deliver the wedding rings. The setting remains wonderfully adaptable, allowing each ceremony to reflect the people at its centre.

Reception

Following the ceremony, celebrations continue beneath a marquee, giving you complete freedom to design the reception exactly as you wish. Whether that’s long shared tables, a formal dinner or something altogether more relaxed.

As daylight fades, guests can gather around the fire pit with drinks before dancing late into the evening. With exclusive use for an entire weekend or a two-night midweek stay, there is no pressure to end the celebrations early. The following morning is just as much a part of the experience, with time to enjoy breakfast together, light the barbecue or simply make the most of the surroundings before heading home.

For couples looking to extend the celebrations, the estate also offers clay shooting on its private Olympic Trap shooting ground, suitable for both beginners and experienced shooters.

Accommodation

Five luxury woodland cabins are tucked away among the trees, each sleeping two guests in complete privacy. Reached by woodland paths, each cabin includes a comfortable double bedroom, a well-equipped kitchen and a bathroom with a rainfall shower, while private decking provides uninterrupted views across the surrounding countryside and woodland.

Some cabins also include outdoor baths and saunas, creating a peaceful place to unwind before or after the wedding celebrations.

Camping is also available for guests wishing to stay on site, while additional accommodation can be found nearby at Teffont House, along with several well-known country pubs offering rooms.

Food & Drink

Food and drink are entirely your choice. The venue does not operate an in-house catering service, allowing you to create a celebration that suits your own style and budget.

Friends and family might prepare generous shared dishes, or you may choose a professional catering team to serve a formal multi-course dinner. Home-produced venison can also be pre-ordered directly from the estate. There are no corkage fees, cake-cutting charges or hidden extras, giving couples complete flexibility over how they host their wedding.

Sustainability

Care for the surrounding woodland runs through every part of the venue. The ceremony space has been created using timber grown on the estate, from the silver birch gazebo and woodland signage to the benches and pathways beneath your feet.

The woodland cabins are powered by solar energy, and couples are encouraged to make thoughtful choices around decorations and suppliers to help reduce the environmental impact of their celebration while making the most of the natural setting.

Local Area

Set within the Cranborne Chase National Landscape and recognised as part of one of the UK’s Dark Sky areas, the venue is surrounded by countryside waiting to be explored. The nearby village is known for its thatched cottages, chalk stream and traditional water meadows, while woodland walks across the estate lead through lakes, open fields and neighbouring National Trust land.

For guests extending their stay, attractions such as Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, Stourhead, and Wilton House are within easy reach, making the venue an excellent base for a countryside wedding weekend.

Getting There

Despite its peaceful location, the venue is easily reached by both road and rail.

Located approximately one mile from the A303, it offers direct access from both London and the South West. Salisbury railway station is about 15 minutes away by taxi, and direct services from London take about 90 minutes.

For those travelling internationally, Heathrow Airport is around a 90-minute drive, while Bristol Airport also offers convenient access.

FAQs
Are my dates available?

As a small family estate, we host only five or six weddings per year, which means there is a great deal of flexibility with available dates. Our wedding season runs from May through September. Winter weddings are not recommended outdoors, but if you are determined to do this, let's talk!

What do you provide?

We provide the place, the benches, the sheep skins to cover them, the ceremony gazebo, parking, the fire pit, a bar, signage, solar lights along the path. Everything else is up to you!

Can we camp?

Yes, camping is available at a charge of £35 per pitch. You can either bring your own tent or you can hire Bell Tents or similar. The size limit per tent is 4m.

What do we have to provide?

The only things you have to provide are mobile toilets. Everything else is optional, depending on your plans.

Are there any extra costs?

The only compulsory extra is that you have to rent our cabins for accommodation. This is simply because we want you to have exclusive use of the venue and not have cabin guests who are not part of your wedding party on site. The cabins can be directly rented for your wedding guests. There are no other compulsory extra charges.

Can we set up a day early?

Yes, if it is convenient for you to get marquees, toilets, or anything else on site a day or two early, that is absolutely fine. There is a £250 charge for each extra day.
