Buxton, Leek and Macclesfield are all within easy reach, though the Mill feels well away from town.

Couples can choose from three ceremony settings. Beside the River Dane, the Riverside Pergola has a solid oak structure and original stone flag flooring. The couple, witnesses and officiant can gather beneath or around it, with guests seated or standing nearby. Outdoor ceremonies can accommodate up to 80 guests.

Inside the Mill, the light-filled Silk Room seats up to 60, with room for additional guests to stand. It offers an indoor choice for winter or wet weather, and entrances from both inside and outside give couples options for their arrival.

Across the river, the Orchard offers a smaller woodland ceremony for up to 20 guests. Access involves steps and a bridge, which is worth considering when choosing between the three spaces.

After the ceremony, guests can gather for drinks and canapés beside the river or outside the Mill, leaving time for photographs before the meal. Inside, the restored Mill accommodates up to 80 guests for a seated daytime reception and up to 120 for the evening.

Couples can arrange the room to suit their plans, whether that means long tables for a shared meal or a different layout for dinner and dancing. Venue hire includes 80 wooden cross-back chairs, 15 locally made rustic trestle tables, napkins, crockery and glassware. Furniture is also available for indoor and outdoor ceremonies.

Those who want to decorate the Mill themselves can do so with family and friends. Alternatively, the team can recommend local suppliers for flowers and venue dressing. As evening arrives, the space can move from dinner to dancing without taking the celebration elsewhere.

The Exclusively Yours package includes three nights in The Farmhouse and Miller’s Cottage, plus the Mill bedrooms for the wedding night. The Farmhouse sleeps up to 16 across seven en-suite bedrooms. It has a spacious living and dining area, an enclosed garden, a private hot tub and a games room.

Miller’s Cottage sleeps up to six in three bedrooms, with a living and dining area, log burner, kitchen and private garden. For the wedding night, the Mill’s 12 en-suite bedrooms sleep up to 27. These rooms have a more hotel-style feel, with views across the surrounding Peak District countryside.

Gradbach Mill’s kitchen and bar team provide all food and drink in-house. Couples can work with the chef to create a menu that suits the celebration, choosing from options ranging from sharing feasts to three-course meals. Menus can be adapted to individual tastes and dietary requirements.

The fully stocked, staffed bar can provide drinks throughout the day, including arrival drinks, refreshments after the ceremony, toasts and wine with dinner. That gives couples the chance to think about the meal as part of the whole occasion: drinks by the river, everyone coming together around the tables, then another round at the bar as the evening gets going.

Guests who stay longer can set off on walks directly from the Mill. The Roaches, Lud’s Church and Three Shires Head are also nearby, offering plenty to explore across this part of the Peak District.

A short drive away, Flash is Britain’s highest village and has a traditional pub. Buxton offers independent shops, markets and the Buxton Opera House, while Leek has its own mix of shops, cafés and restaurants. Macclesfield is within easy reach too.
