Set in over 300 acres of private woodland and countryside in Heart of The Chiltern Hills, the Gaddesden Estate is a privately owned Country Farming Estate, at the heart of which is the Golden Parsonage, built in 1705.
The grounds around the Golden Parsonage range from formal gardens to fully wild spaces. Choose from the Walled Garden Meadow, which runs alongside the walls of the kitchen garden; Fishponds, a medieval landscaped area, and Badger’s Garden part of the formal grounds of the Golden Parsonage itself.
They offer complete flexibility in choosing which of these areas would best suit you, with the option to combine the use of multiple spaces on the day.
The Gaddesden Estate is just a stones throw from Hemel Hempstead, St Albans and Berkhamsted and under an hour from London.
An exclusive hire, the grounds around the Golden Parsonage range from formal gardens to fully wild spaces.
The Walled Garden Meadow
The Walled Garden Meadow offers the greatest flexibility when it comes to the use of a space and is an ideal place for a marquee or tipi. The meadow is a riot of wildflowers in spring and early summer and the adjacent tree-lined Avenue and folly is a natural place for a blessing ceremony. With a woodland backdrop and views across the countryside this is the perfect location to really make your day your own.
Available June to September
Thought to have its origins as a Medieval pond, today Fishponds is a truly magical sunken garden set among the woodland and hidden from the house. Dine below a canopy of leaves under the stars, or hold a blessing with friends and family in the area’s ‘atrium’, hidden from all but the flora and fauna. A secluded wilderness surrounded by mature oaks, Fishponds is ideal for those who want a totally unique experience dining amongst the trees.
Available June to September
Laid out at the end of the 20th century, Badger’s Garden comprises a series of more formal tree plantings with views over the countryside beyond. This unique location, overlooked by the main façade of the house, is ideal for intimate events and drinks receptions.
Available April to September

We are a working Farming and Forestry Estate so we are passionate about balancing the environment alongside our events. As such at certain times of the year our spaces may have an alternative use. For example, our Walled Garden Meadow transforms into a wild flower meadow in the spring, which does make for great photo opportunities.
We do not allow Chinese lanterns and fireworks are restricted at certain times of the year.
