Fitzleroi Barn sits in the heart of the South Downs, where historic timber buildings and open countryside create a calm, private setting for a relaxed wedding weekend. Family-run for more than 25 years, the barn has been thoughtfully restored, balancing original character with a clean, modern finish that feels warm and welcoming without losing its rural roots.
Exclusive two-day hire allows couples to settle in the day before, style the space, and prepare at an easy pace. With uninterrupted access to the barn and grounds, celebrations unfold naturally, supported by a hands-on team led by Julia, who works closely with each couple from first visit to final farewell. The result is a wedding that feels personal, considered and gently unhurried.
A choice of indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces allows couples to shape the day around their style while remaining within one private, connected setting. Each space offers a distinct atmosphere, from intimate indoor vows to open-air ceremonies framed by views of the South Downs.
The Long Room provides a light-filled setting for smaller ceremonies of up to 70 guests, while the Main Barn offers a historic timber-framed space with original beams for up to 130 guests. Outdoors, the Courtyard offers a rose-lined setting framed by barn doors, and the Meadow provides sweeping views across the South Downs for open-air ceremonies. Celebrant-led and humanist ceremonies are also welcomed, offering further flexibility for a personal approach.
Following the ceremony, drinks receptions typically unfold in the courtyard, where parasols, seating and an outdoor bar create a relaxed atmosphere for conversation and photographs. The flow between spaces keeps the day easy and sociable, with guests naturally moving from ceremony to celebration.
For the wedding breakfast, the Main Barn offers flexibility, accommodating round tables, long feasting tables, or a combination of both. Couples may also choose alfresco dining or street food trucks, using the courtyard and grounds to create a more informal celebration. As evening arrives, the barn becomes a warm setting for music and dancing under soft lighting, bringing the day together into one joy-filled space.
The Hayloft sits alongside the barn, offering a private, newly renovated maisonette designed for the couple’s stay. Earlier in the day, it serves as a dedicated preparation space for hair and make-up, before becoming a quiet retreat after the celebrations.
A wide range of local accommodation is available nearby, allowing guests to stay close and enjoy the relaxed pace of a countryside wedding weekend.
Fitzleroi Barn offers flexibility when planning food and drink. There is no corkage on drinks, and couples can choose from a trusted network of recommended caterers covering a range of styles and budgets. Alternative caterers may also be considered, subject to approval, allowing couples to shape the dining experience to suit their plans.
This open approach supports both formal dining and more relaxed options, from long-table feasts to informal outdoor food stations.
Fitzleroi Barn offers unlimited on-site parking, ensuring straightforward arrivals for guests travelling by car.
Just a little note to thank you for all your help over the past months, helping us to bring everything together to give Charlotte and Henry the most perfect day last Saturday!
The weather was absolutely stunning all day/evening which only enhanced the beautiful setting. You are quite right, having 30 of us there made it such a lovely, intimate and relaxed occasion and everyone seemed to have a happy time.
I just wanted to send you a little email to say thank you for letting us have our wedding at your beautiful venue. It was more than we ever could have imagined and we were soooooo happy to finally get to say I Do (a few date changes later!)
I couldn’t recommend Fitzleroi Barn enough, you really do have the most beautiful views around and the barn itself just so charming. All of our guests commented on how stunning it was and one even wants details for their wedding. Thank you for everything (especially for occupying our littlest with the parasol while we had the ceremony).
We just wanted to reach out to say thank you again for our amazing wedding! It was an incredible day, we enjoyed every second and wanted to say thank you for all the support and guidance you gave throughout! The barn and surroundings were so beautiful and all of our guests had a fantastic time!
We don’t think ‘thank you’ will do justice to the level of care, commitment and service we received from you all. A wedding is hard at the best of times – let alone during a pandemic, it was made so much easier mainly thanks to you all. The family friendly atmosphere and service is outstanding. Truly thank you so much!
I really don’t know where to start with the thank you’s. We have no doubt that our wedding would not have been so memorable had we chosen somewhere else. We’ve had nothing but compliments about the venue and look of the place and the Ceilidh band who Toby plays with were very complimentary about the style and sound of the place.
Not only was it the perfect venue for us for the day but you truly went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and relaxed at every moment. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The preparation before the day, the set up on the day, ceremony, tables, dancing and clear up were all impeccably planned and we felt truly in safe hands.
Many thanks for letting us ‘autumnify’ the barn. We hope it wasn’t too chaotic from your point of view. Special thank you to your husband too who went out with the flashlight to find my sleeping brother!
Fitzleroi Barn's wedding showcase is the perfect opportunity to explore the barn, the courtyard and the grounds in person; dressed and ready to...
We have six trusted caterers who each offer a wide selection of dishes for you to choose from. We have handpicked them; every caterer will provide excellent service and delicious food.
Oh, we have so many! They include the front field overlooking the South Downs, the Rose Wall, and the huge barn doors in the courtyard and inside the Barn.
No, we are strongly opposed to corkage; therefore, we do not charge any corkage, and caterers are not allowed to charge corkage either.
