Falconhurst is a countryside wedding venue set on the edge of an organic dairy farm in the High Weald, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is located three miles south of Edenbridge on the Kent/Sussex border and offers expansive views towards Ashdown Forest. At its heart is The Barn at Falconhurst, a beautifully restored Victorian Threshing Barn alongside extensive gardens that provide an additional setting for celebrations.
A picturesque country church is within walking distance, offering a traditional setting for wedding ceremonies.
The Barn at Falconhurst is an authentic Victorian Threshing Barn with rustic charm, wooden beams, and plenty of character. It comfortably seats up to 80 guests and features a bar, dance floor, and unique details that add to its charm. Once part of the working farm and overlooking the wild garden and lake, the calf units now provide a quiet retreat for guests looking to step away from the main festivities.
For larger weddings of up to 200 guests, the gardens at Falconhurst can be used as an additional space. Many couples begin their reception in the Walled Garden, enjoying fizz and canapés before strolling through the main gardens with those fantastic views towards Ashdown Forest.
There are plenty of local Airbnb options nearby, as well as Falconhurst’s own secluded woodland retreat, Hole Cottage, which sleeps up to four guests.
Couples can choose from Falconhurst’s three recommended caterers or bring in their own for an additional fee.
Falconhurst is located in the village of Markbeech, a small hilltop hamlet with Hever as its nearest neighbour.
Falconhurst is easily accessible by train and road. Cowden Station, just a mile away, offers an hourly service to central London, while Sevenoaks and Tonbridge stations provide additional options, including late-night trains. Many guests opt for taxis at the end of the evening. The venue is a 25-minute drive from the M25 and one hour from London.
It is hard to believe it has already been two months since our wedding. It was such a special and happy day for us. Thank you so incredibly much for everything. It was such a perfect place to have our wedding.
Thank you both so much for being so accommodating to us and for making our wedding such a fantastic day. We had such a great time and I know all of our guests had a fun time celebrating with us. Thank you again for everything you did for us.
We held our wedding reception at Falconhurst last year. The setting was absolutely stunning and we had complete freedom to make the venue our own and choose our suppliers. Leading our guests from the Church down the little woodland path into the beautiful walled garden for drinks was the perfect start to the festivities, and the gardens were tended to perfection. Nicola was extremely helpful and accommodating throughout the planning process and was also a fantastic host for those of us who stayed in the house on the night of the wedding. Falconhurst is a magical place.
One of our favourite things about Falconhurst was not feeling like we were just another wedding, we felt like we were very welcome and everything was just so personal. This made it such a beautiful experience both on the run up, especially on the day and even the day after.
Loved staying in the “Bridal Room” – it was a special extension of the wedding.
Just wanted to say thank you so much for all your help in the run up to today, we had an absolutely perfect day!
We all had the most wonderful, memorable time and hugely appreciate all the effort you went to making it run so smoothly. We’ve had endless cards and messages telling us that it was the most ‘beautiful setting’ for a wedding and how stunning the house and gardens are.
You and your family were just wonderful and so welcoming. Always there to help, answer any questions and going beyond the call of duty on the lead up and on the day.
Falconhurst is such a beautiful special place. It offered us the perfect venue with the flexibility and scope to create our wonderful wedding. Our guests loved the gardens and the view was just breath-taking. Nicola and Charles were so accommodating and every one of our expectations were far exceeded.
Yes, in the garden you can choose any supplier you like. We are happy to give suggestions of companies who have worked here in the past and provided a good service.
Yes, you are welcome to come and decorate your marquee as soon as it goes up. In fact we positively encourage you to spend time here in the garden so that you feel at home here before your big day.
Yes, most of our couples are married at the pretty little church in Markbeech. It holds up to 120 people and is a short walk away. It is rather romantic walking back to the garden along The Church Walk! I am happy to put you in touch with our priest if you are interested in this.
Yes, this often happens here. We do not have a wedding license as we do not hold enough weddings, but this is a lovely way of saying 'I do' in front of your guests. I am happy to put you in touch with a Celebrant.
I am afraid since the pandemic we are not so keen on having guests in the house. However, we do have a pretty little cottage within walking distance. Please do ask if you are interested in this option.
We do not at present. However, we are actively looking into this for 2026 and beyond. This would entail a licence to marry in The Barn or the gardens (when weather permits) for up to 80 people. Please do ask if you are interested in his option.
