The Falconhurst Garden option includes access to any part of the Falconhurst gardens from the day of set up (usually 3 days prior to the event). You arrange your own marquee/caterer.
The Barn at Falconhurst option includes the furniture, lighting, flooring and use of The Barn and Walled Garden for reception drinks. This is a hassle-free option.
Please contact the venue for detailed prices.
Falconhurst is set on the edge of an organic dairy farm, 3 miles south of Edenbridge on the Kent/Sussex border in the High Weald. They are surrounded by fields with views towards the Ashdown Forest. There’s a station within a 15-minute walk at Cowden, and they are 25 minutes from the M25 and one hour from London.
The gardens at Falconhurst are open to the public during the week in summer and for the National Garden Scheme and have been featured in several books, providing the perfect backdrop for a country house wedding.
Falconhurst is a beautiful stone house owned by the same family since it was built in 1852.
The church is a short walk away from the venue, and most couples proceed back from their ceremony along the historic Church Walk, arriving back in The Walled Garden for reception drinks.
The gardens surrounding the house have lush borders prolific with flowers during the summer. There are wild areas, ponds, lakes, woodland walks, pigs, sheep and a couple of goats to join in the fun.
Their marquee option
The garden is ideally suited to a marquee wedding where couples are welcome to choose their own suppliers, creating a completely unique wedding. Marquees are placed on the dell below the handsome house with beautiful views to the south. Falconhurst are happy to advise on suppliers for no extra charge.
Their barn option
For weddings of 80 or less, they have a pretty little Victorian threshing barn overlooking a small lake with its own separate garden that provides a very special atmosphere.
There, they can offer an ‘all in’ price for a completely fuss-free wedding – all you will need to do is provide your own decorations.
Either venue at Falconhurst offers the ideal ‘Country House’ wedding: Natural, individual, and completely charming!
They are happy to share their list of accommodation providers close to the venue, including Edells, a family-owned house sleeping 20, and delightful Hole Cottage, a 15th-century cottage set in Falconhurst woods.
Just wanted to say thank you so much for all your help in the run up to today, we had an absolutely perfect day!
We all had the most wonderful, memorable time and hugely appreciate all the effort you went to making it run so smoothly. We’ve had endless cards and messages telling us that it was the most ‘beautiful setting’ for a wedding and how stunning the house and gardens are.
You and your family were just wonderful and so welcoming. Always there to help, answer any questions and going beyond the call of duty on the lead up and on the day.
We held our wedding reception at Falconhurst last year. The setting was absolutely stunning and we had complete freedom to make the venue our own and choose our suppliers. Leading our guests from the Church down the little woodland path into the beautiful walled garden for drinks was the perfect start to the festivities, and the gardens were tended to perfection. Nicola was extremely helpful and accommodating throughout the planning process and was also a fantastic host for those of us who stayed in the house on the night of the wedding. Falconhurst is a magical place.
One of our favourite things about Falconhurst was not feeling like we were just another wedding, we felt like we were very welcome and everything was just so personal. This made it such a beautiful experience both on the run up, especially on the day and even the day after.
Falconhurst is such a beautiful special place. It offered us the perfect venue with the flexibility and scope to create our wonderful wedding. Our guests loved the gardens and the view was just breath-taking. Nicola and Charles were so accommodating and every one of our expectations were far exceeded.
It is hard to believe it has already been two months since our wedding. It was such a special and happy day for us. Thank you so incredibly much for everything. It was such a perfect place to have our wedding.
Thank you both so much for being so accommodating to us and for making our wedding such a fantastic day. We had such a great time and I know all of our guests had a fun time celebrating with us. Thank you again for everything you did for us.
Loved staying in the “Bridal Room” – it was a special extension of the wedding.
Yes, in the garden you can choose any supplier you like. We are happy to give suggestions of companies who have worked here in the past and provided a good service.
Yes, you are welcome to come and decorate your marquee as soon as it goes up. In fact we positively encourage you to spend time here in the garden so that you feel at home here before your big day.
Yes, most of our couples are married at the pretty little church in Markbeech. It holds up to 120 people and is a short walk away. It is rather romantic walking back to the garden along The Church Walk! I am happy to put you in touch with our priest if you are interested in this.
Yes, this often happens here. We do not have a wedding license as we do not hold enough weddings but this is a lovely way of saying 'I do' in front of your guests. I am happy to put you in touch with a Celebrant.
I am afraid since the pandemic we are not so keen on having guests in the house. However we do have a beautiful family house called Edells that sleeps up to 20 close by and also a pretty little cottage within walking distance. Please do ask if you are interested in this option.
We do not at present. However, this is something we are actively looking into for 2024 and beyond. This would entail a licence to marry in The Barn or the gardens (when weather permits) for up to 80 people. Please do ask if you are interested in his option.
