Nestled in the North York Moors National Park, privately owned Egton Estate is surrounded by heather moorland, ancient woodland, and meandering rivers, whilst only 6 miles from the beautiful Whitby Bay. Hosting only a very limited number of weddings each year, your day is made even more special. With two days’ exclusive use of the house and grounds, you and your guests will feel as though you’re celebrating in your own country home.
From intimate celebrations to gatherings for 160 guests, Egton offers an array of enchanting spaces for your ceremony, reception and wedding breakfast. There is an indulgent and secluded riverside honeymoon suite for the newlyweds, as well as very comfortable accommodation for 27 of your guests.
Whether religious or non-religious, Egton welcomes everyone and is licensed to conduct all types of nuptials. Ceremonies can be held in any of the spaces, with The Drawing Room within the house being the most popular. Alternatively, they can be held in The Long Gallery beneath the dovecot or on the terrace within the Lavender Garden. Capacity is up to 110 indoor and 160 outdoor.
For couples seeking a traditional church ceremony, Egton offers two beautiful Grade II listed churches, both within walking distance of the Manor. St Hedda’s Catholic Church, located just opposite Egton Manor, and St Hilda’s Church of England, the Egton Estate’s family church, set within the grounds. Both churches can accommodate up to 160 guests.
Egton offers a variety of versatile spaces to suit every style of wedding reception, from intimate gatherings to lavish celebrations. Whether you envision your special day in the elegant Manor House rooms, the rustic charm of the Long Gallery, the unique Covered Courtyard, the picturesque Lavender Gardens, or even beneath a romantic Raj tent on the lawn, you’ll find the perfect setting to bring your vision to life.
Within the grounds of the Manor, Egton can accommodate up to 27 guests across a range of comfortable self-catered cottages or elegant bed and breakfast rooms in the Manor itself. The secluded honeymoon suite, River Lodge, offers a truly indulgent escape for the special couple on their wedding night.
Egton have carefully handpicked some of Yorkshire’s finest caterers that can accommodate any tastes, size of event and budget. Whether you are choosing a three-course wedding breakfast, sharing platters or hampers on the lawn, their recommended caterers will offer food for thought. Occasionally, couples do ask to use their own choice of caterers, which they are happy to accommodate.
Set within beautiful surroundings and just six miles from Whitby Bay, there are plenty of things to do in the area, from walking to fishing to wildlife spotting. There are several very good pubs within walking distance, too.
