About
Setting

Dunglass Estate offers a secluded escape within easy reach of Edinburgh. Surrounded by East Lothian’s countryside, the venue features breathtaking grounds, sea views, and a historic 15th-century Gothic church. The estate provides exclusive use of its luxury Pavilion, Seaview House, three cottages, and a distinctive Honeymoon Treehouse.

Ceremony

The estate’s 15th-century Gothic church is a striking setting for a wedding ceremony. Partially ruined yet steeped in history, it is one of Scotland’s finest examples of its kind, offering an atmospheric and romantic backdrop.

Reception

After the ceremony, guests can gather for drinks in the outdoor Courtyard or the indoor Stable Yard. The Pavilion provides an elegant space for the wedding meal and evening celebration. The venue includes rustic timber tables, wooden cross-back chairs, and occasional soft furnishings.

Accommodation

Up to 28 guests can stay on-site across five self-catering properties, including Seaview House, three cottages, and the Honeymoon Treehouse. Venue hire includes two nights of accommodation.

Getting There

Dunglass Estate is located in East Lothian, Scotland, near the A1 road, making it easily accessible by car.

  • From Edinburgh: Take the A1 south towards Berwick-upon-Tweed.
  • From England (Berwick-upon-Tweed direction): Take the A1 north towards Edinburgh.
  • Follow signposts for Dunglass Estate near Cockburnspath and take the appropriate exit.

Public transport options include nearby train stations at Dunbar and Berwick-upon-Tweed, with taxi or bus connections to the estate.

What is your maximum capacity?

- Our maximum capacity is 150 guests.

- We can seat up to 150 guests inside the Church. However, it must be a centre ceremony. Our maximum capacity for a top ceremony is 120 guests.

- We can seat up to 150 guests with long banqueting tables or up to 120 guests with square tables in the pavilion for your wedding meal.

What do guests normally do the evening prior to the wedding?

For the evening before your wedding, we offer the use of our BBQ Garden, which is covered with a stretch tent, for weddings between March and October. For weddings between November and February, we offer the use of our Stable Yard until 21:30. This room inside the venue is typically used for the drinks reception. The Stable Yard offers a variety of soft furnishings and tables for your guests to enjoy. The BBQ Garden/ Stable yard is complimentary for up to 28 guests.

Is an Events Manager included in the package?

Yes, an Events Manager is included in your package. They will meet with you to help plan your day's running order and timings. The Events Manager will also be with you on the wedding day to ensure a smooth operation and ensure you enjoy your day.

If the weather doesn't cooperate, where would the ceremony be held?

We offer the Stable Yard as an alternate ceremony option. This bright and modern room has floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over our south-facing Courtyard.

How do I get from the Bridal House to the Church?

We provide a shuttle service for guests staying at Sea View House and Treehouse to the Church and back to the accommodation at the end of the event.

Are there any visitors to the Church the day of the wedding?

The grounds are private; however, they remain open for the estate's residents. Visitors on the day will be monitored by our staff and kindly asked to return on a different day.

What is the payment plan?

The remainder of the price is divided into three payments, due 12 months, 6 months, and 2 months before your wedding date. A security deposit of £1,000 is due the day before the wedding. It will be refunded upon departure and after approval from our housekeeping team.
