There are 70 acres of leafy grounds at Dulwich College in South East London, offering a wedding setting that feels both expansive and intimate. Historic architecture and landscaped lawns form the backdrop, whether the day is small and private or large and lively. The iconic Barry Buildings, with their terracotta and cream façade, bring grandeur, while the Pavilion offers a quieter corner full of character.
The grounds provide space for outdoor receptions, relaxed garden parties and unforgettable photographs. A mix of indoor and outdoor settings means the day can flow in a way that feels personal-classic, contemporary or entirely unique. An experienced Events Team is available to support throughout, keeping everything running with calm precision.
Dulwich College is licensed for civil ceremonies and partnerships, giving you the choice of saying “I do” in a truly distinctive space. The Old Library, with its elegant interiors and quiet atmosphere, suits smaller gatherings. It comes with a two-hour booking, allowing time to decorate, host a drinks reception and enjoy the adjoining lawns for photographs.
For larger ceremonies, the Great Hall commands attention. Seating up to 450 guests, it works beautifully for traditional or cultural ceremonies, including Hindu weddings. The grand staircase, South Cloisters and neighbouring spaces allow a natural transition from ceremony to celebration.
The College offers a choice of striking spaces for receptions. The Barry Buildings bring scale and elegance, with the Great Hall accommodating up to 240 guests for a seated meal and 300 for a drinks reception. After dinner, the Lower Hall and Cloisters open for dancing, coffee or conversation.
The Pavilion Salle creates a more intimate setting, ideal for summer receptions and garden parties. Balconies on either side, a staffed bar and direct access to outdoor spaces add flexibility. It can also be paired with a marquee for open-air dining.
Although Dulwich College does not provide on-site accommodation, a wide range of options are available nearby. From boutique hotels and comfortable B&Bs to familiar larger chains, options suit every budget and style. Guests can easily reach them on foot, by car, or by public transport.
High-quality in-house catering is available, with menus designed to be flexible. Couples may also select from an approved list of external caterers. From a sit-down dinner to a buffet or something more inventive, food choices can be shaped to suit the celebration.
Several of the College’s venues feature a built-in bar. Where this is not the case, one can be arranged. Full stock and staffing can be provided, or couples may bring in their own professional bar service, with corkage fees applying as needed.
Dulwich College holds membership with the Sustainable Wedding Alliance and is committed to hosting weddings with the least environmental impact possible. The Events Team collaborates with local suppliers, minimises waste, and actively reduces energy consumption across its venues. Couples can also seek advice on sustainable choices for catering, décor and transport. The College continues to evolve its practices, exploring new ways to improve its approach.
The surrounding area of Dulwich combines a village-like character with cultural depth. Guests can enjoy the green spaces of Dulwich Park, along with the Dulwich Picture Gallery and the Horniman Museum. Independent cafés, pubs and shops provide further charm, making it an inviting place to spend time before or after the wedding.
Dulwich College is well-connected by public transport. West Dulwich station is a 10-minute walk away, with trains from London Victoria taking approximately 12 minutes. North Dulwich station links to London Bridge in around 15 minutes.
For those travelling by car, on-site parking is available for up to 80 vehicles, with space for Routemaster buses and coaches for group transport. Whether arriving by train, car or taxi, access is straightforward.

We understand that eating and drinking are at the heart of your event, and therefore, we also welcome caterers from our approved list.
We are happy to hold a date for two weeks so you don't lose your preferred date while weighing up the options.
The building you hire will be exclusively yours during your hire period, but please note that other events may be taking place on campus. However, these should not impact your celebration.
We have 80 parking spaces, so it should be plenty. Our car park easily accommodates Routemaster buses and coaches in case you want to lay on transport for your guests.
Access is available from 10am on the morning of your wedding. On Fridays and Saturdays, the music and bar close at 11:30 pm, with carriages at midnight.
When using in-house catering, there is a £20 + VAT per person charge to supply your own drinks for the day; we would supply and manage the evening bar for you.
If using an external caterer, you would organise your drinks with them. We would then supply the evening bar for you, with a minimum spend of £1,200. Alternatively, if you prefer to supply your own evening drinks, there is a £700 + VAT corkage charge. Please note that you would need to hire a professional service for the bar, either through your caterer or an outside company.
Helium balloons and naked flames are not permitted. We always suggest that you inform your event manager of all your decorative arrangements so that they can ensure there are no surprises. For in-house catering, we will take care of laying out anything you want on tables and basic decoration, but we leave the art of floristry and lighting to the experts.
Some of our couples who use external catering find it very useful to have a Wedding Planner to coordinate arrangements and suppliers on the day. When using in-house catering, it is generally not required.
