As you take the long sweeping drive that leads up to Coombe Lodge, you know you are somewhere special, somewhere that could be exclusively yours for your special celebration.
Designed by the architect Sir George Oatley, Coombe Lodge was originally built between 1928 and 1932, and became home to the notable Wills family for the next 30 years. While retaining the splendour and elegance of its past – the house has been sensitively transformed into a beautiful, contemporary venue, with striking atmospheric lighting and original floors.
Everything about the house has been thoughtfully arranged from the chandelier lit grand entrance hall, to the impressive light-filled Music Room with its panoramic views across Blagdon Lake to the Bristol Channel. The beautiful wood-panelled lounge and gallery along with its Grand piano offers the perfect location for those celebratory drinks. Their Luxurious and Cosy Library offers the perfect location for guests to relax with some Tea & Coffee or post wedding breakfast cocktails.
Weddings are their passion. From the moment you catch your first glimpse of Coombe Lodge, right up to the big day itself, they want you to have the day that you have always imagined, and as such they’ll do their utmost to ensure that you have the support that you need to be able to achieve this.
Whether you have 50 or 160 guests, there is a great choice of locations in which to hold your wedding ceremony. Including the Billiard Room, the Music Room or outside in the courtyard under the charming veranda – so come rain or shine there is always the perfect option. You can then enjoy reception drinks and some delicious canapés, before being invited into the spacious Music Room for a lavish wedding breakfast.
Coombe Lodge’s reputation has been built upon great service, outstanding food, drink and attention to detail, so that their couple’s will have nothing but wonderful memories of their special day at Coombe Lodge.
The venue hire includes exclusive use of Coombe Lodge on the day of your wedding (all bedrooms are charged in addition). The menu prices shown in our brochure include dining tables and chairs, white linen tablecloths and napkins, as well as tableware such as cutlery, crockery and glassware. You will have a dedicated Event Manager to run your day and a team of waiting staff. Items such as cake stands with knife and an easel for your table plan may be borrowed.
No food or drink may be brought onto the premises without permission. Wine, Champagne, sparkling wine and Prosecco may be provided by you however corkage fees apply. Alcohol miniatures are permitted as a table favour but a corkage fee will apply.
Our Billiard Room seats up to 80 for an indoor ceremony, or for larger weddings the Music Room seats up to 160 for both a ceremony and wedding breakfast.
Natural confetti such as rose petals can be thrown inside or on the lawns. We do not allow confetti canons at Coombe Lodge.
In the week leading up to your wedding we will arrange a time for you to drop off all your venue décor to us, for safe keeping until your wedding day. This may include your seating plan, favours, place cards, card box and guest book, along with any other decorations that you have planned. Our team will happily set all of this up for you on the morning of the wedding so that you can relax and enjoy the occasion.
Your florist will be responsible for setting up all floral arrangements. If you are hiring additional items such as table centres, chair covers, props, furniture or large decorations it will be the responsibility of the company that you have hired them from to set them up and also collect them at the end of the event.
