Setting
Clearwell Castle is set within the stunning Forest of Dean, providing a perfect fairy tale setting for a wedding day. The venue offers various options to suit different needs, including extending the wedding celebration to a weekend-long affair.
Ceremony
The magnificent Ballroom at Clearwell Castle is licensed for civil ceremonies and features a 75ft aisle, allowing the bride to make a grand entrance. The Ballroom provides a unique and serene setting with ornate leaded glass windows and a Dias at one end, creating an atmosphere typically found in churches. For sunnier days, the Terrace offers a stunning setting for an outdoor ceremony.
Reception
The Ballroom can seat up to 150 guests for the wedding breakfast, and several other grand and elegant reception rooms are available for guests to enjoy. As the entire house and grounds are reserved exclusively for each event, up to 250 guests can be invited for the evening wedding reception and party.
Accommodation
Clearwell Castle offers 15 beautiful bedrooms within the Castle and grounds, reserved exclusively for the wedding night to ensure a perfect end to the day. Additional properties within the grounds are available for the bridal party and groomsmen to stay the night before the wedding. The recent addition of the Clear Well in the village, just a short stroll from the Castle, provides 20 more bedrooms for the night before or the night of the wedding. This facility includes a private bar, lounge, dining, and breakfast room, ideal for spending the wedding eve with close family and friends.
Getting There
Clearwell Castle is located in Gloucestershire, just 20 minutes from the Severn Crossing and 45 minutes from Bristol, Cheltenham, and Gloucester, making it easily accessible.
Clearwell Castle is a historic listed building with some restrictions on modifications to accommodate wheelchairs. However, ramps are provided to facilitate access to key ground floor rooms of the Castle, and a disabled toilet is available on the lower ground floor. A disabled-friendly room is also in the Coachman’s accommodation across the courtyard.
