The Cider Barn, part of the Dillington Estate in Somerset, exudes rustic charm. Surrounded by fields and woods, this old stone and thatched barn offers breathtaking views over the rolling Somerset countryside. Accessed via a winding track through the woods, the barn presents a magical and romantic escape where natural beauty meets authentic craftsmanship.
The venue’s timeless architecture, with exposed wooden beams, stone walls, and thatched ceilings, provides a magical backdrop lit by fairy lights and metal chandeliers. Its unpretentious design makes the space blend effortlessly with its surroundings, offering a truly captivating setting.
The Cider Barn is fully licensed for weddings, with various enchanting locations for ceremonies. Couples can exchange vows inside the barn, beneath the stretch tent, or in the walled garden when the weather permits.
For those seeking a traditional church service, St Mary’s Church, Whitelackington, is a short stroll away. This historic church can accommodate up to 120 guests, offering an idyllic setting for a religious ceremony before guests return to the barn for the festivities.
The Cider Barn offers a seamless experience for your celebration, allowing couples to personalise the space. The barn is a versatile venue for wedding breakfasts, evening receptions, and dancing. Surrounding the barn, the walled garden, courtyard, marquee, and outdoor bar provide multiple spaces for socialising, dining, or evening drinks. With charming details, such as the illuminated wooden bar under the trees and festoon lighting, the reception atmosphere is warm and inviting.
The Dillington Estate offers a collection of beautifully refurbished cottages within a mile of the barn, accommodating over 50 guests. These cottages range from the historic Atherstone Farmhouse, which sleeps 14, to the picturesque Dairy House, set in the parkland around Dillington House and accommodating 16 guests. Each cottage combines comfort with character, ensuring a relaxing stay for couples and their guests.
Couples enjoy complete freedom when it comes to catering. The Cider Barn has no restrictions on caterers, allowing for anything from fine dining to street food. A dedicated kitchen, equipped with industrial-grade appliances, is available for caterers to ensure smooth service.
For drinks, the outdoor wooden bar can be staffed or left for guests to help themselves. With no corkage fees, couples can serve whatever they like without hidden costs.
The Cider Barn is located on the Dillington Estate in the heart of Somerset, easily accessible for guests. The venue is reached by a scenic, rustic track through the woods, setting the tone for a secluded and intimate wedding celebration.
For a Saturday wedding, you'll have access to the barn for deliveries and set up from 9am the Friday before until noon the Monday after the wedding.
We can accommodate 120 guests for ceremonies in the barn. The venue works very well for a sit-down dinner for 100 guests, but it can seat up to 120 inside. For the evening celebration with drinks and dancing, 150 is fine.
None! You're welcome to use whomever you'd like, but we'd happily recommend some excellent local suppliers.
Unfortunately, this is not a service we offer as the barn is a 'dry hire'. To make it easier for you, we can recommend suppliers you can contact directly and, if you like, suggest a local event manager and/or wedding day coordinator.
The barn has a newly built extension that has toilets (five cubicles, a larger access cubicle, a baby-changing table and urinals) and a caterer's prepping kitchen. There is also a small storeroom.
We provide plenty of stainless-steel worktops, a large 1300L double-door fridge and a 600L single-door freezer, double sinks with hot water, and an outlet for bottled gas so a gas cooker/hob (which the caterers can bring if needed) can be connected.
No, we don't. You may run the bar as you like and fill the galvanised bathtub with ice for cooling self-served beer and wine. Please speak to us if you plan on having a paid bar, as you will need to apply for a temporary events licence.
We have 20 tables and 120+ chairs, available to hire in 60, 90 or 120-person packages (as well as individually). We do not provide crockery, cutlery or glasses but can recommend suppliers.
It's entirely up to you, but the list might include caterers, entertainment, decorations, a sound system, and heaters. We have a list of recommended local suppliers for you to contact.
Yes...to some extent! Please discuss anything other than table decorations with us in advance. Décor can be wrapped around the beams, but the barn's walls are old and fragile, so items cannot be attached to them (unless they're hung from the beams above). Candles contained on tables are allowed.
