Château Canet

Vineyards, Mediterranean gardens and centuries-old olive trees surround Château Canet, a family-run wine estate in the Languedoc, just 15 minutes from Carcassonne. This is a working winery, with wine tastings and cellar tours offering a glimpse of life beyond the wedding celebrations.

Exclusive use gives couples and their guests time together across the estate, from drinks in the Château Garden to dinner among its stone buildings. The grounds offer several gathering spots, each with a different outlook: rows of vines, an olive grove, formal lawns, and a leafy pergola. For a destination wedding, there is plenty to enjoy without leaving the property.

Ceremonies at Château Canet can take place among the vines, beneath the olive trees or in the formal Château Garden, where an archway and manicured lawns overlook the estate. A leafy pergola offers another outdoor setting, while the Olive Grove Tent lends itself to flowers and personal touches.

Indoors, L’Écurie provides an alternative whatever the weather. Formerly the estate’s stable and now its wine-tasting room, it brings the character of the working winery into the ceremony.

The estate welcomes celebrant-led and symbolic ceremonies. Couples can include their own traditions, readings and music, with the team helping to design the details around their wishes.

The Château Garden sets the scene for canapés and glasses of estate wine before guests gather for dinner. In the Interior Courtyard, two mature olive trees shade the space between traditional stone buildings and L’Orangerie. Come evening, festoon lights hang above the tables for dinner beneath the stars.

L’Orangerie offers an indoor space for dining and dancing, with exposed wooden beams, fairy lights, and large glass doors that open directly onto the courtyard. Celebrations can move between the two throughout the evening.

The estate hosts weddings for up to 80 guests. With no neighbours to disturb, L’Orangerie and the Interior Courtyard have no music or dancing curfew, leaving plenty of time for another song.

Nine self-catering cottages provide 17 bedrooms for up to 40 guests. Two double sofa beds and one single sofa bed increase the total capacity to 45, allowing a substantial part of the wedding party to stay on site.

Each cottage has its own character, with traditional French country interiors, a private terrace and a fully equipped kitchenette. Mornings might begin with coffee outside before a swim in the heated pool, while the tennis and pétanque courts offer more ways to spend time together.

For larger celebrations, hotels, guesthouses, and holiday rentals are just 15 minutes away. Transport between the town and the estate can be arranged.

Meals bring everyone together throughout a wedding at Château Canet, from a welcome barbecue to a farewell Mimosa Brunch. Between the main celebrations, vineyard picnics and platters of local cheese and charcuterie offer a more informal way to gather.

Wedding menus feature French-inspired starters, main courses and desserts, with vegetarian and vegan alternatives available. The team can discuss preferences and adapt dishes to suit the couple’s tastes.

The wine comes with its own estate story. Château Canet produces award-winning red, white, and rosé wines, along with a traditional sparkling Crémant de Limoux. A private cellar tour and tasting lets guests learn more about the wines served during their stay, adding another shared experience to the weekend.

Nearby, the Canal du Midi offers walks, cycle rides and boat trips beneath the plane trees. The surrounding countryside also has village markets, historic abbeys and medieval castles to explore.

Carcassonne Airport is approximately 20 minutes from Château Canet. Toulouse-Blagnac Airport offers another arrival option, about 1 hour 15-30 minutes away by car, while Barcelona Airport is about 2 hours 30 minutes away.

Carcassonne railway station has connections to Toulouse, Bordeaux and Paris, with the train from Paris taking approximately five hours. You can also reach the estate by car from Carcassonne and the surrounding towns.

Guests travelling without a hire car can arrange airport transfers and transport between the estate and nearby accommodation, helping everyone return to their accommodation after the celebrations.
