This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is also a UNESCO-endorsed Global Geopark, ensuring breathtaking surroundings steeped in history and natural wonder. As a Designated Dark Sky Discovery Site, the estate offers a magical backdrop for stargazing, with the Northern Lights occasionally making an appearance.
The licensed Wedding Barn at Blackton Grange accommodates up to 74 guests in rustic bench seating or traditional cross-back chairs. When the weather permits, an outdoor ceremony is also available. The barn features Bluetooth-enabled speakers zoned for different areas, allowing live music or a custom playlist.
Couples can work with Durham County Registrars or choose celebrants to create a more personalised ceremony.
Blackton Grange is a dry-hire venue that allows couples to design their reception space. There are no restrictions on caterers or drinks services so that you can create a celebration tailored to your tastes and style. A dedicated wedding coordinator is available to help bring your vision to life and make sure everything runs smoothly on the day.
The hire includes a luxurious 8-bedroom farmhouse accommodating up to 18 guests. The farmhouse features a large kitchen-diner, games room, cinema room, and several communal spaces, making it an ideal spot for pre-wedding celebrations with your closest friends and family.
The dry hire policy extends to catering, allowing you to choose the perfect dining experience, from food trucks to grazing tables or traditional wedding breakfasts. A list of recommended suppliers is available, but couples can bring in their own suppliers.
For drinks, Blackton Grange offers the flexibility to supply your own alcohol with no corkage fees, providing a relaxed and budget-friendly option.
Between Middleton-in-Teesdale and Barnard Castle, Blackton Grange is within an hour’s drive of Newcastle and Durham. Despite its rural setting, the venue provides on-site parking and access to recommended transport suppliers, ensuring easy connections for you and your guests.
