The Setting

Berkeley Castle is the oldest castle in the country to still be lived in by the same family it was built for. The Berkeley family have resided in the Castle since 1153 and it is still their family home to this day. Berkeley Castle is a magnificent medieval fortress on the outskirts of the Cotswolds, nestled in the rolling Gloucestershire countryside. Although situated in a tranquil and idyllic setting, surrounded by countryside and with stunning views across to the River Severn and beyond, it’s also just 10 minutes from the M5.

The Vibe

Whilst Berkeley Castle is often described as being both stunning and incredibly grand, it still manages to feel warm, welcoming and homely, with a team of friendly staff on hand to ensure you have the most wonderful experience. The Castle is still a family home and as such hosts a maximum of 36 weddings a year. This means that with only one wedding taking place per week there will be no wedding directly before yours and no wedding immediately after, allowing you to arrive whenever you wish and leave at your leisure.

The Castle is truly spectacular and gives your wedding that huge sense of occasion. You can even arrange for yourselves and your guests to have a professional private guided tour of the Castle to see parts you wouldn’t normally get to see!

The accommodation on site is cosy and spacious allowing you to settle in and relax with family and friends before the wedding and to really enjoy the day after, reminiscing about the previous day’s festivities.

Pippa is the wedding and events manager at Berkeley Castle and her 18+ years experience means that there is never a question unanswered and no task that’s too much. Pippa is with you throughout your planning process and will be there on the day to make sure everything runs smoothly and is all you ever dreamed it would be.
