Balcombe Place

We had our wedding reception at Balcombe Place in May 2022. It was absolutely spectacular! After looking at 16 wedding venues (yes, 16!), Balcombe Place was the only venue where we walked away knowing that we absolutely wanted our wedding reception to be held there. The building and grounds are simply stunning. It is incredibly grand, steeped in history and it has been so lovingly restored and looked after. It is clear that the Balcombe Place team takes such pride in the venue. We had the venue from Friday to Sunday, with our wedding on the Saturday. The fact that we could call the venue home for the weekend was perfect and something that so many other venues weren’t able to offer. Not only are the function rooms at Balcombe Place phenomenal (in particular the Music Room), the bedrooms and dining room were also gorgeous. Shrimpy provides delicious house meals all weekend, and Fo was wonderful for giving us a tour and history of the building and grounds. Emma was an absolute dream to have on board for planning our wedding. She is supremely efficient and was so responsive to all of our questions, no matter how small. Emma has great creativity and gave us brilliant suggestions for suppliers, styling the venue and organising the order of events. She was also incredibly reassuring and reasonable when it came to rescheduling our date, which could have been stressful for us, but thankfully it wasn’t. On the day, there was no detail that Emma wasn’t on top of. She knew exactly what was happening when, where we wanted things to be set up, and she could anticipate everything we needed before we knew we needed it! In our view, Balcombe Place is the perfect venue!

Married May 2022

The time spent planning with Emma to the big day itself – everything was perfect. Emma understood what was important to us and helped us to create an individual weekend with the incredibly beautiful venue as host.

From the moment that we saw the stunning house and panoramic countryside views, we knew that Balcombe Place was our ideal wedding location. Whilst Balcombe Place is local to us, the unique and exclusive nature meant we and our guests had not had the privilege of attending an event here before. On our first visit the long sweeping drive and the flow of the rooms that make up the house sealed the deal. The ground floor is a stunning traditional English house and the guest rooms upstairs meant our closest friends and family could stay with us after the big day – each in their own unique, modern ensuite bedroom. The support from Emma and her team meant our plans went without a hitch on the day, and the daytime formalities gave way to a great party atmosphere until the early hours.

We chose Balcombe Place for our wedding venue – it took our breath away from the minute we saw it and our guests had exactly the same reaction when they arrived on the day.

A key point for us when we were searching for the perfect wedding venue was that we wanted a house that was grand and characterful rather than stuffy and old. It’s a hard line to tread, but Balcombe Place does it perfectly. If you’re looking to have a civil ceremony but still want the grandeur of a church, then this is the venue for you – the Drawing Room with the beautiful marble fireplace is stunning and created a real wow factor for our guests, especially with flowers adorning the top. We loved having the house for an entire weekend too, it meant that close family and friends could arrive on the Friday, settle in and truly enjoy the day on Saturday (and a good hangover-curing cooked breakfast on the Sunday!).

The Music Room was perfect for our wedding breakfast and evening reception. With beautiful wood panelling, a tall ceiling and huge bay window, light streamed in during our speeches and it felt truly magical. It’s a sizeable room but also not overwhelmingly so, this meant that the breakfast still felt intimate and got the party going with everyone dancing together in the evening.

We knew that by choosing a date in March we may have been subject to some miserable British weather, however we had a mini heatwave (19 degrees!) which absolutely made our day. We had drinks and canapés on the lawn and patio in brilliant sunshine. The team were fabulous at pivoting plans and shifting service from inside to out without batting an eye. We had our photographs in the grounds of Balcombe Place and made the most of the magnolia tree that came into blossom on the exact weekend of our wedding!

Grace was such an incredible person to work with whilst planning our wedding at Balcombe Place. Her attention to detail and dedication to ensuring that our day was as perfect as it could be, both in the lead up and on the day itself, was wonderful. Her calming and joyful presence was perfect for wedding morning nerves and evening celebrations. It was a pleasure to work with such an enthusiastic and considered lady; she is a true testament to the team and to the bright future of Balcombe Place. We couldn’t imagine our wedding without her!

Overall, Balcombe Place was the most magical venue for our wedding. The team was incredible, everything ran smoothly, and it meant that we could enjoy the day and soak up every minute.

Married March 2022

Emma went above and beyond her job to facilitate every wish of ours in the year leading up to the wedding and even more so over the weekend. Her passion for what she does totally shone through and it felt like she truly cared about how Mark and I felt throughout the whole thing. She understood what was important to me and made sure every detail was PERFECT. If it wasn’t for Emma, I know the whole event wouldn’t have been the success it was. So we are both extremely grateful to her.

Wow! What a venue, what a team, what a day! Ben and I had our wedding reception at Balcombe Place in October, and we could not have wished for a more perfect day. As you walk into the house, it’s as though it is giving you a hug. The light that twinkles through the vast windows creates a sense of magic. The scenery, even on a murky day, is awesome. There really is no other place quite like it. You have to see it to believe it! To make everything extra wonderful, Enthusiastic Emma is there to guide you seamlessly though your entire event. Emma’s knowledge of how the house flows, helps make the best of your day, utilising every room. She is also open to the odd crazy idea and had to humour us on a few we had! All of the above just makes it a heavenly place, with the added bonus of being able to stay for the weekend – what a dream! Only downside – No longer having an event to chat to Emma about and explore the ever-improving updates that are going on in the glorious rooms. Maybe we could have a first anniversary dinner party?! Thank you, Emma and team, so much for a day we shall never forget!

Balcombe was the first venue we visited back in 2020 and both instantly fell in love. It had absolutely everything that we were looking for to host the most important day of our lives. From the perfect bedrooms to get ready in the morning, the stunning rooms for both the ceremony and wedding breakfast, to the gorgeous grounds which we just knew would be the perfect backdrop for our reception drinks and couple photos – Balcombe simply had it all! We have had so many compliments from all our guests at how wonderful the day was, and we want to thank you, Emma and Grace so much for all the effort and energy you put into making the day a success.
Emma, from the first day we met her, was so friendly and welcoming, her knowledge, advice and positivity was inspiring, and we knew that we were in the perfect hands for planning our big day. The support with postponing due to the covid pandemic was much appreciated.
Grace’s energy and friendliness was just amazing, and it really did feel like we had another friend by our sides willing us to have the best possible day. At every moment it felt like you had everything under control and neither of us had any doubts that everything was going to run as smoothly as we had dreamed. We cannot recommend Balcombe Place highly enough to every potential bride and groom as their wedding venue!

Married April 2022

We were lucky enough to have our wedding at Balcombe Place in April 2022. It was truly stunning and the dreamiest of venues. We initially viewed the venue prior to 2nd lockdown, and Emma & Fo kindly allowed us to visit at very short notice before lockdown. It took our breath away from the first moment, and we knew this was the venue. No other venues compared. The Balcombe Place package is so unique and every BP Bride will know, but it’s just so magical staying in the house for the entire weekend. The BP Chef and all involved behind the scenes are all amazing and the food was epic throughout the weekend. Fo has restored this beautiful house, and we just loved her personal family story with the house. Emma & Grace were the most amazing help throughout the process, they are absolutely wonderful & make the day run so smoothly. Everyone involved at Balcombe Place was amazing, and we would strongly recommend BP for all brides if you want the most unique, exclusive & stunning house/grounds for your wedding weekend. We could not fault them. Emma & Grace were impeccably organised, communicated so effectively & made life so much easier in the wedding planning process. Thank you to you all for everything you did for our wedding!

We just wanted to say a huge thank you again for making everything possible for us. We had the best day and that was in no small part down to you and your team. We couldn’t have wished for a more perfect day. Thank you for going out of your way to make everything so easy for us. I am desperate to return already so I hope we get to do so in the future, but until then we have our beautiful photos to remind us of the day. I hope many more people get to enjoy the same beautiful setting for their special occasions.

We are still struggling to put into words how incredible Emma and Balcombe Place were for our wedding in November 2019. We stumbled across the venue by chance really – it must have been fate! We booked the house whilst it was still in the stages of being revamped and it was amazing to be part of the journey and see the love being poured into it and learn about the history, we feel very emotionally connected to the house and already really miss our visits! We fell in love with the house the moment we walked in, you really have to see it to understand what its like, it sounds strange to say it about a house but it has a lovely feeling. But what ultimately sold it to us was meeting Emma and seeing how dedicated and hard working she is. Throughout the planning process Emma was amazing, answering all my hundreds of emails, coordinating every supplier, suggesting ideas we’d never have thought of and solving every problem before they even occurred. And always as the loveliest, calmest, most helpful person we’ve ever known. The option to have Balcombe Place from Friday to Sunday is such a huge bonus and something you will struggle to find at another venue. It truly feels like your house whilst you are there. Our biggest criteria for our wedding venue was we didn’t want somewhere that felt like a wedding machine, where you are just one of hundreds being churned through. Balcombe Place couldn’t be further from that, and its clear how committed Emma and Fo are to maintaining that. All the suppliers we worked with from Emma’s suggested list were also incredible, and it speaks volumes that they all talk so positively about working with Balcombe Place. We cannot recommend the venue enough – for any occasion! You definitely wont be disappointed! We love you Balcombe Place! We actually had a little cry leaving the house on the Sunday after our wedding knowing how much we would miss the house, Emma, Fo and all the puppies.

We loved Balcombe Place as soon as we walked through the door, Emma was welcoming and informative from the outset, we immediately knew it was the place we wanted to host our wedding. The building, although grand, also felt very homely, warm and intimate which we were looking for. The renovation that has been done is to a very high standard, keeping the beautiful character and adding quirks which we really loved, Emma was always updating us with enthusiasm and passion! We felt very confident in the hands of Emma who was always there to run through ideas with, nothing was too much trouble. We also made the most of her little black book of suppliers who were also all fantastic. Being able to stay there the night before and enjoy a delicious dinner cooked by their in house chef was a big plus and helped us all relax and have some family time before the big day! We had the most wonderful wedding day at Balcombe Place and have created really special memories, thank you to Emma and her team for all their hard work!

Cannot begin to explain how perfect of a day we had for our wedding at Balcombe Place. From our first visit until the Sunday after, we were treated amazingly. Grace was an absolute dream to work with. She was so helpful on the day without being overbearing, it was so lovely to have it all come together and feel like she was genuinely invested in our special day and making sure everything went smoothly. Everyone who attended has continued to message us to say how brilliant of a day it was and how beautiful the venue was. So glad we found this special venue. It really feels like such an intimate weekend when you get to stay at the house and have the family team from Balcombe.
