Deans Court is a historic estate surrounded by ancient gardens, located just a short walk from the heart of Wimborne Minster in Dorset. The marquee, where celebrations take place, is positioned beside a tranquil lake within the beautiful grounds, offering one of the most private and picturesque wedding venues in the South West of England. As the day transitions into evening, the setting transforms into a magical ‘night garden,’ illuminated by festoon lighting, up-lit trees, fire pits, and candles, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere for the evening celebrations.
Deans Court offers couples the option to be legally married on-site with an outdoor ceremony in the gardens. Should the weather be unfavourable, the historic interiors of the house provide an intimate alternative. For those choosing an off-site ceremony, the area boasts beautiful local churches, some within walking distance of the venue. The outdoor space can accommodate a large number of guests, while the indoor ceremony is limited to 80 seated or 120 standing.
Deans Court provides an exceptional setting for your reception, whether held in the gardens or in the elegant marquee. The venue’s comfortable maximum capacity for the evening reception is between 160 and 180 guests, although they have hosted up to 200. For the seated meal, the venue can comfortably accommodate between 140 and 160 guests, with past events hosting as many as 190. The bar, stage, and dance floor are all provided, allowing you to focus on choosing your entertainment and evening food. Music runs until 11pm, with the bar closing at 11:30pm. An additional hour can be requested for Friday or Saturday weddings, provided all on-site accommodation is booked for your guests.
For those seeking accommodation close to the celebrations, Deans Court offers two charming estate cottages, Apple and Plum, with their own gardens and stunning views over the Stour Valley. Together, these cottages sleep up to 12 guests, including two in the rustic Shepherd’s Hut.
A minute’s walk from the marquee, the Gate House provides a larger self-catering option, accommodating up to 16 guests. This spacious house is ideal for a full weekend stay, complete with a large garden, dining facilities, media room, and outdoor hot tub.
Deans Court places great importance on catering, allowing couples the flexibility to choose from a list of trusted chefs, or bring in their own. The preferred caterers offer a variety of styles, from classic gourmet and modern British cuisine to street food and sharing platters. The venue has an arrangement with select caterers who cover kitchen equipment and service ware costs, but external caterers can be accommodated with an additional charge. Deans Court also offers its own canapés and wedding breakfast menu for £40 per person.
Deans Court is located on the edge of Wimborne Minster, a historic market town with a variety of attractions and restaurants, ensuring your guests have plenty to explore during their stay.
