Hatch House has been part of the Rumbold family since the early 19th century. Originally built as a manor house for the Hyde family, it carries strong historic ties (Anne Hyde married James, brother of Charles II), so there’s plenty of history behind it. The house itself, with its formal gardens, creates a distinctive backdrop for a wedding, offering both character and flexibility.
Next to Hatch House sits its own kitchen garden, where you’ll find the award-winning restaurant and wedding venue, Pythouse Kitchen Garden. The team behind the restaurant have been hosting weddings at both venues since 2016.
Hatch House is fully licensed for wedding ceremonies, including the stunning pavilion in the heart of the 17th-century walled Dutch garden for up to 200 guests, and the elegant dining room for a maximum of 50. Couples can choose the setting that best fits the tone of their day and their preferred time of year.
The gardens are divided into distinct ‘rooms’, which makes it easy for guests to move between different parts of the day. Couples often use a stretch marquee over the Dutch garden, where there’s space for a seated reception and dance floor. The Lime Avenue, with its shaded summer drive and ornate gates, makes a striking location for photographs.
If you combine your Hatch House wedding ceremony with a reception at neighbouring Pythouse Kitchen Garden (see their second package option), up to 24 guests can enjoy their beautifully furnished cedar wood glamping domes, two bathrooms, towels, hot water bottles, a 2-hour wood-fired sauna and cold plunge session, and a breakfast larder of local produce.
Hatch House have teamed up with neighbouring Pythouse Kitchen Garden, the Green Michelin Star and Bib Gourmand restaurant from Sprigs Co, voted ‘Restaurant Of The Year 2025’ in the Food Lifestyle Awards, to bring you sensational food and drinks at Hatch House. Couples wishing to view Hatch House are invited to enjoy lunch at neighbouring Pythouse Kitchen Garden as part of their tour.
Hatch House’s in-house caterers hold a Green Michelin Star and the maximum 3-star Food Made Good rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association. Sprigs Co.’s menus are inspired by the seasons and sourced from within their own kitchen garden, as well as from local farmers, stalkers, and growers, who are chosen for their commitment to protecting and restoring the environment. Head Chef, Darren Broom, has designed a wonderful wedding menu with something for everyone, and the team can also create bespoke menus tailored to your specific requirements.

No.
Yes in principle, we would just need to know exactly what is involved, how long the fire will burn for and what container you will be using for the fire. This is due to the nature of our venue, surrounded by trees and proximity to the house itself, which is why we don't allow fireworks.
