There is a sense of timeless beauty at Bilsington Priory, where medieval history quietly lingers in the Kent countryside. Built in 1253 from local Ragstone, the priory was founded by Sir John Mansell, Lord Chief Justice of England and Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports to Henry III. Later owned by Mary I, Queen of England and Ireland, it remains a rare and striking witness to centuries past.
The gardens are wide and open, offering uninterrupted views across Romney Marsh. From every angle, the grounds offer a sense of space and quiet drama, providing an idyllic backdrop for your celebration.
There are both indoor and outdoor ceremony options to suit every kind of gathering. The checkered board gazebo, situated within the priory grounds, provides an open-air setting. Inside, the Priory Room exudes warmth and intimacy, with its original architecture lending weight and elegance to the occasion.
Up to 100 guests can be welcomed for the ceremony, whether you’re planning something grand or something more understated.
The tree marquee provides the main space for the celebration, sitting just beyond the ceremony. Its clear views of the surrounding grounds keep you connected to the outside, while the structure adds ease and elegance to the party, whatever the weather.
Inside, there’s space for dining, dancing, and drinks, with the adjoining bar and in-house DJ included in your wedding package. After the vows, guests are invited to enjoy refreshments and participate in games before the evening’s festivities begin.
All wedding packages include in-house catering, providing a straightforward and flexible approach to planning. Menus and options can be tailored to suit the ambience of the day, ensuring guests are well-fed and well-cared for.
Bilsington Priory is easily accessible whether guests arrive by car, train, or plane.
