The Croft is located in the charming, historic village of Croft-on-Tees, named after the village itself. Situated on the banks of the river that forms the border between North Yorkshire and County Durham, this picturesque venue offers a tranquil setting.
Within the historic Grade-II listed building is a Secret Garden Chapel, offering a truly enchanting setting for weddings. The chapel features huge antique doors, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, and an ancient cascading willow tree, creating a magical fairy-tale atmosphere. Couples can walk down a breathtaking stone aisle lined with romantic florals to a raised altar where they can exchange vows. The venue allows flexibility in setup, from tastefully traditional arrangements to a more daring runway aisle design, ensuring all guests have a perfect view of the ceremony.
The Garden Suite is the central space for the reception at The Croft, offering a unique indoor/outdoor experience. With a sliding glass wall that opens onto a secret garden terrace, this botanical hideaway includes fire pits, a water feature, and a retractable roof for year-round enjoyment. Sophisticated garden chairs and rustic round tables sit beneath a canopy of hanging wisteria, creating a magical space for celebrating. From banqueting to cake-cutting and bouquet throwing to cocktail shaking, the Garden Suite ensures every aspect of the celebration can be enjoyed in style.
The venue offers 24 comfortable bedrooms, each tastefully furnished and retaining many period features. Modern, stylish bathrooms, free WiFi, a relaxed bar and restaurant, and log fires ensure guests have everything needed for a relaxing stay during the celebration.
The surrounding area is rich in attractions, including The Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors, Bowes Museum, and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Guests can explore Rockcliffe Hall, Shildon Railway Museum, and High Force, all easily accessible from The Croft.
The venue provides ample free parking at both the front and rear of the building, ensuring convenience for guests arriving by car. The Croft’s location near key attractions makes it an ideal base for those exploring the region.
