Setting

This stunning Jacobean house is set in plush, manicured gardens overlooking three ornamental lakes and has unique views of Ely Cathedral. They are an exclusive-use venue; the entire Manor House, 16 hotel rooms, and gardens are exclusively yours for the day and night of your wedding and the night before your big day, too, should you wish.

The woodland areas surround the opulent driveway, making for memorable photographs and a sophisticated setting for your big day.

The interiors and gardens at The Old Hall Ely are like no other. Spring weddings boast blooming gardens and stunning sunsets. In the summer, the patios, gardens and terraces make excellent entertaining spaces for games, drinks and live music. In autumn, their couples enjoy emotive skies and incredibly colourful gardens. Winter weddings boast roaring fires, cosy spaces, and incredibly decorated gardens and interiors featuring 20 Christmas trees dotted across the venue.

With incredible indoor and outdoor spaces, you’re guaranteed your perfect ceremony, whatever the weather. Their handcrafted and ornate outdoor pavilion overlooks the lakes and gardens, with Ely Cathedral on the horizon. Their inside ceremony space, The Orangery, is beautiful every season and features floor-to-ceiling glass, which can all be opened to unveil a stunning inside-outside space.

As a family-owned venue, hospitality and service are their main priority. The fantastic team are always on hand to ensure your wedding is as stress-free and personal as possible. The Events Managers are there to guide you every step of the way – they believe that planning your big day should be an absolute pleasure and a magical experience. Therefore, they go above and beyond to ensure this is a reality for their couples. The team of chefs is inventive and prides itself on quality; they will work with you to ensure your wedding breakfast is crafted precisely to your taste.

My Husband and I got married here last month and we cannot recommend the staff and venue enough. From the very first meeting, to the running of the day, everything was perfect. We were lucky enough to get married in the Pavilion outside due to the fantastic weather. The staff were exceptional throughout and went above and beyond to deliver a fantastic service. I grew up in Ely and remember when The Old Hall started being renovated. I would always say to my Mum, ‘Wow, I wonder who lives there?’. Since then, I always dreamed of getting married at the Old Hall.

We came for a private tour and instantly fell in love. It was everything we had imagined, and no other venue we looked at even came close.

From start to finish, the staff at the Old Hall were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble, and they had thought of things we had overlooked. The planning process was so easy, and our questions were answered so quickly.

The day itself was a fairytale. When we arrived, everything was done! There was nothing for me to have to think or worry about. The staff allowed me to enjoy the morning of my wedding with my beautiful bridal party. The whole day was a military operation without anyone knowing. The staff made everyone feel relaxed whilst still making sure everyone was on time. The food was sensational, and the staff were so attentive. All of our guests commented on how spectacular the venue was, most saying they had never been to a wedding like it.

The staff at the Old Hall made our day perfect, and we will never be able to thank them enough!

I literally had a fairy-tale wedding here at the Old Hall Ely. The venue/house is gorgeous, the views are stunning, the staff are incredible, and everything is just perfect. I got married outside in the garden pavilion, enjoyed some drinks and canapés on the terrace outside, had a delicious dinner in a beautiful dining room, and then enjoyed an intimate time with family cozied up by not one but two majestic fireplaces. My family loved their room/view when they stayed overnight – it was so nice that people could enjoy the wedding and just go upstairs to bed when they were tired. The wedding coordinator was so friendly and helpful, the staff serving drinks/canapés/dinner were very sweet, and the bartender was hilarious and entertained one of our very energetic/crazy nieces. There were two people who looked after us as well, they were really great at organising everything and taking care of us. I could not have asked for a more beautiful wedding – there was not one hiccup the entire day, it was pure perfection.

The planning beforehand, and including that on the day was exemplary and all our little requests were dealt with without fuss. On the actual day the attention of the team was second to none – nothing was too much trouble. We got married here in early December, and whilst “perfect” seems like a strong word, it is definitely the right one.

I struggle with anxiety and am definitely a control freak, and I threw every question and possible scenario at Kirsty (an absolute gem among gems) during the planning phase, and for every single one, she had a well-prepared answer. The planning that went into our day was unmatched.

Then it’s the big day. I wasn’t feeling great in the morning (a mix of nerves and just general sickness). Michelle (how utterly fantastic she was) noticed I wasn’t at breakfast, so appeared in the bridal suite with pastries. There is literally nothing that is too much trouble, and they go completely above and beyond in every aspect.

Whilst Michelle was keeping me sane (and fed!) in the morning Jasmine was downstairs running around setting everything up behind the scenes. She was a core part of ensuring our day ran as smoothly as it did and making sure everything was on time and set up correctly.

We had so many compliments on the organisation of the day and how smoothly everything ran. But the big showstopper? The food. Oh my goodness, the food. Even if you don’t get the chance to get married or attend a wedding here, you are in luck. They do dining evenings and weekends, too. I would recommend these to everyone just to try their incredible food. We’ve definitely got our eye on a few events throughout the year, and we will definitely be back for a festive Christmas lunch on our anniversary. So many people were raving about the food all night, definitely a highlight.

Finally, to Amanda, who was an absolute diamond in the evening, she ensured everything ran almost effortlessly and was checking in on me throughout the night.

Thank you isn’t and will never be enough for Kirsty, Michelle, Amanda, Jasmine and the entire Old Hall Team working tirelessly behind the scenes.

I’m so excited that the Old Hall is a hotel and restaurant as well; gives us every reason to go back, and we definitely will!

What is your venue's most unique feature?

Our views of Ely Cathedral as a wedding venue are unique and genuinely capture that fairytale dream for our couples. Our garden pavilion is based on the structure of the Cathedral and is a one-of-a-kind ceremony space. Overlooking our stunning environment, this area is the perfect place to say your vows.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Our family of staff - we are confident that everyone here absolutely loves what they do, and we are proud to always have such smiley, caring and enthusiastic team members at our venue.

Where's the best photo spot at your venue?

We can't possibly choose! We have many incredible spots, from our lakes and woodland area to our lollipop trees or topiaries in our outdoor areas. As well as our cosy interior photo spots, in front of our roaring open fireplaces or the stunning orangery, you'll find many incredible gems here.

What drink options are available?

We have an incredible array of drinks, all hand-selected by our team, who work with an independent merchant. From the finest Champagnes (in huge bottles!) to the most classic Provence Rosés, we do have it all. If you want to go the extra mile, we also have personalised cocktail bars or gin bars.

Have you had any celebrity guests or weddings at your venue?

We have hosted various celebrity couples and guests over the years, all of whom have been a pleasure to meet. Most recently, Pixie Lott and Oliver Cheshire celebrated their marriage with us!

Do you have accommodation?

Yes. We have 15 luxury guest bedrooms and one spectacular honeymoon suite.

How big is your venue?

Our Jacobean Manor House stands proud, surrounded by 10 acres of landscaped grounds. The venue itself is best suited for parties between 60 and 250 guests.

Where do we begin?

The first step is to visit us for a private show round, which you can book here. Couples get a full tour of the venue, gardens and bedrooms. After your tour, you will sit down to discuss your dream wedding day, and any questions you might have will be answered. We can also book you a provisional date at the end of your show round.
