Storrs Hall is a beautiful Georgian house on the shores of England’s largest lake. Offering total privacy and a spectacular view, this is one of the most beautiful locations in the UK. With sweeping lawns, vast views of Lake Windermere, and 17 acres of private grounds, Storrs Hall is secluded yet dramatic.
The Grade II-listed Georgian main house is elegant and grand. Imagine if Bridgerton had a holiday home in the lakes. Storrs Hall would be that home.
Storrs Hall offers six licensed ceremony spaces, each uniquely designed to complement the architecture and views. Whether you’re planning an intimate elopement with their ‘Just For Two’ package or a grand celebration with a marquee on the lawn, surrounded by your loved ones, there’s something to inspire everyone for their special day.
While the catering and drinks service is looked after in-house, they give their couples the option to use their vintage Citroen van as a quirky outdoor bar or street food catering van to make the most of summer evenings on the terrace.
Conveniently located just 1.5 miles from the bustling village of Bowness on Windermere, Storrs Hall is easily accessible. A ten-minute taxi ride connects guests to Windermere Railway Station, serviced by a direct West Coast mainline train from London Euston. For those arriving by road, it is a short 25-minute drive from JCT 36 of the M6. The private jetty also allows access via lake cruises, which are available for private charter.
We loved every minute… We just wanted to say thank you for our amazing stay and wedding. You all do a brilliant job – everyone is friendly, helpful and professional. We loved every minute and will definitely return in the future. The Boathouse is stunning, we could not fault any of it.
The most incredible place…
We have stayed at Storrs Hall a few times now. We got engaged there and recently got married there! I cannot express just how perfect everything always is. The staff are extremely professional but approachable. They leave you feeling like you have had a really special time. The main rooms and the suites, the food, the location and the service is just incredible.
Despite hosting 90-100 guests on our wedding day, the service was STILL impeccable. I do not know how they do it, but they somehow manage to achieve perfection. We could not have asked for a more amazing wedding day in the most beautiful location, but all of the staff really did make it the day that it was.
The standard is so high, never change, we will be back again!
Absolutely perfect…
Got married here in March and it was absolutely perfect. Nothing was too much trouble. Staff were so friendly and helpful. All the rooms are fabulous. The grounds are amazing. I could go on. Can’t wait to come back and have a few days stay over.
Dreamy elopement wedding.
We chose Storrs Hall for our elopement, and we couldn’t have chosen a better place. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The location is absolutely perfect, and even with rain on our day, we got the most beautiful photos. the Lake Suite is an absolutely gorgeous, luxurious room. The food was delicious. Breakfast and dinners were totaly amazing and always fresh.
We had my mother with us, who is lacto and gluten-free, so it is always difficult for her to find something she can eat which is also tasty. However here she always had plenty to choose from and everything was she had was tasty and hardly to recognised that it was dietary.
The whole experience was like living in a fairytale. Storrs halls has a special place in out hearts and definitely will be visiting for our first anniversary.
Married March 2024
I got Married At Storrs Hall on the 26th of March, and let me tell you, this was the best decision me and my partner made. We wanted a small micro wedding, so we booked a “Just us” package, and after contacting Storrs and speaking to Oliva and Julia they were more than happy to accommodate our numbers (10 guests because it was off-peak). After booking everything with them, we started to notice what sort of experience this would be. They sent us a card at Christmas from the team, it felt like they were just as excited about our wedding as we were.
When we arrived, the hotel was stunning, everything clean and crisp and everyone working showed a smile that could only be described as genuine joy to see us, we were about to book in and our room was ready 5 hours before normal check in time. we could relax, drop off our stuff and start our wedding celebration.
Over the days we stayed there, the team at Storrs really made us feel like family more than guests. The team would converse with us at breakfast, and when they saw us about the hotel and really went above and beyond what I could ever expect of a Hotel. Even gave us a small token gift for our wedding that let left in our room with a card from the team.
Me and my now husband will not hesitate to stay here again, may even save up to do so soon! We love it here and if your thinking of this venue for your wedding, look no further!
Married April 2024
WOW, where do you start.
Storrs Hall, thank you for making our day so special. The staff couldn’t do enough to make the day the best day ever. The location, the venue, the people. I could go on and on, I have goose bumps typing this. Storrs Hall and your excellent team on behalf of my good lady wife Ann and I, we applaud you. You smashed it.
60 sit-down guests for the ceremony and wedding breakfast; 120 for the evening.
Regretfully, we do not accept pets at Storrs Hall.
We don't encourage it as we have a great local wine supplier, but on occasion, we charge £20 corkage per 75cl bottle for still wine and £30 per bottle for sparkling and champagne.
