Holdsworth House is set in three acres of attractive grounds and offers beautiful architecture, stone-mullioned windows, pretty courtyards, and well-kept gardens.
Located three miles north of Halifax and close to scenic Bronte Country, Holdsworth House has always been the premier choice in the area for famous guests since the ’60s and remains so today.
In this historic house, you’ll find open fires, cosy lounges, fine antiques, and tapestries that together create a sense of history, calm, and comfort. There are 33 charming en suite bedrooms, all individually furnished and some dog-friendly.
Ceremony
The hotel can accommodate 120 guests for ceremonies, with five ceremony locations to choose from. Ceremonies can take place in the historic wood-panelled Hall, the large Stuart Room function suite, the more modern Abraham Brigg Room, or outside in the gardens or the inner Courtyard.
For intimate ceremonies, couples can say ‘I do’ with just two guests in the 17th-century Stone Gazebo, the country’s smallest licensed venue.
Outdoor weddings are another possibility, with abundant idyllic gardens and courtyards.
The hotel offers Chiavari chairs and for outdoor ceremonies, the folding New England-style chairs are used.
Reception
The wedding reception can take place in the large Stuart Room, which can seat 120 guests. It has a dance floor, a bar and private use of the Courtyard in the evening.
Small wedding receptions can take place in the Mullioned Restaurant or a private dining room on the first floor overlooking the gardens, or even outdoors in the Courtyard.

Holdsworth House Hotel has 33 rooms. Its most popular wedding package includes overnight accommodation for the couple and one room for each couple’s parents. All wedding guests attending the event will benefit from a special rate.

Most wedding packages at Holdsworth House include food and wine with the meal. The hotel is a popular fine-dining restaurant and is fully licensed. The gin menu features over 100 gins, and the local pale ale is on tap.
When booking a wedding package here, couples get a menu tasting to try (and see the presentation of) their chosen dishes before the wedding.
Local Area
The hotel is on the urban fringe of Halifax in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. It is close to Bronte Country and equidistant between Manchester and Leeds. There is free parking on site for around 70 cars. Halifax is well known for its Industrial Revolution past and has many mills and rolling countryside just a stone’s throw away.
