Rowton Castle is a breathtaking wedding venue just a short distance from Shrewsbury, Shropshire. Standing for more than 800 years, Rowton Castle has a long and colourful history, changing hands between esteemed families and institutions throughout the centuries and undergoing numerous transformations.
Boasting 17 acres of tranquil grounds, luxurious castle accommodation, and beautiful views of the English countryside, today, Rowton Castle is renowned not only for its beautiful appearance and location but its exceptional customer service and effortless charm as one of Shropshire’s finest wedding venues.
Vows may be exchanged in three romantic locations: the castle gardens, surrounded by wildflowers; the comfort of the grand Cardeston Suite; or, for those wishing for a smaller affair, the cosy Georgian Dining Room.
There are 19 beautifully appointed bedrooms, accommodating 43 people overall. The Honeymoon Suite is included in the venue hire charge; the remaining 18 guest bedrooms are an additional charge.
Honeymoon Suite aside, guest accommodation at Rowton Castle comprises the following:

Breakfast is always included in the bedroom rate paid.
It is your wedding day, and you shouldn’t have to worry about organising catering; at Rowton Castle, you won’t. The in-house team will cater to your every need with food prepared by the brigade of chefs and guests looked after by the longstanding food and beverage team.
The menu options include canapes, street food, signature drinks, cocktails, and fully served courses at a seated dinner.
There are several bars, all of which differ in style and ambience, and a dedicated garden kitchen ensures that there are options for everyone.
- By Car: Rowton Castle is a 3.5-hour drive from London, 1.5 hours from Birmingham, 2 hours from Manchester, and 1 hour from Chester.
- By Train: The nearest station is Shrewsbury, a 20-minute drive away, with connections to London, Birmingham, Cardiff, and Manchester. Taxis are available to the castle from the station.
- By Air: Birmingham and Manchester airports are 1.5-2 hours away by car. You can drive, or combine train and taxi to reach the castle.
