The Bell in Ticehurst is a gorgeous 16th-century inn set in the beautiful East Sussex countryside.
The ambience at The Bell in Ticehurst is distinctly laid-back, a little bit quirky and definitely not run-of-the-mill. The Bell is the perfect place to celebrate life, love and happiness. Wedding guests will delight in the quirkiness of this historic pub. It is a treasure trove of goodies and very, very cool.
The opulent Big Room can accommodate up to 90 guests for your ceremony. The distinctive wallpaper and grandiose collection of chandeliers offer you and your guests a unique space to celebrate your partnership.
Downstairs in the historic Stables, you can celebrate your nuptials with your very own Red Carpet Walk, rolled out just for you along the exceptionally long wooden table. Enjoy drinks and canapes from your personal bar. Under our beautiful pink neon, ‘I will always love you my friend’ is the perfect place for speeches, offering a more informal approach to the tradition. You and your guests can gather around the beautiful garden in good weather!
The Bell also has 11 beautifully distinctive rooms, all with their own personality. Your guests won’t want to get up for breakfast! The amazing Love Nest lodge will be yours for the night. It is equipped with a fantastic copper roll-top bath, perfect for a long, luxurious soak. Warm up with your very own log burner and snuggle up in the Nest, the perfect place to end your day.
Thoughtfully prepared by our Head Chef and team, their wedding menus have been crafted to provide sumptuous dining options. Their secret lies in the quality of ingredients, locally sourced with a passion for detail and presentation. They pride themselves on bespoke dining, catering to individual needs and requirements.
Although The Bell is located in the heart of the East Sussex countryside, it still has excellent road and rail links, with Brighton only an hour away and London 90 minutes away.
I could not recommend The Bell enough!! It was the perfect chilled out, relaxed venue for our Wedding of the Century! Our guests still tell us how fabulous our day was and that it was hands down THE BEST WEDDING they had ever been to. Tessa is incredible, couldn’t do enough for us and was super patient with my constantly interfering parents! Tessa and her team made sure we had everything we could need and went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. We would happily do it every year if we could! Thank you guys, we can’t wait to see you again soon.
We fell in love with The Bell the first time we visited and once we were engaged we knew we had to get married here. It is a unique venue that met all of our requirements and more. Tessa was always available to help with our preparations and answer all of our questions no matter how trivial. They were able to meet all the dietary needs of our guests. The food was incredible and is still a talking point amongst our relatives and friends. The team were fantastic on the day providing an incredible service with everything running flawlessly. The list of suppliers The Bell provided was very useful. Those we used for our wedding were fantastic, meeting and exceeding all of our requirements. We will recommend The Bell to everyone, thanks for making our special day so incredible.
The venue is wonderfully quirky with the most amazing little details. A personal highlight for me was being introduced as husband and wife and walking the length of the table to ring the bell! The food was first class and my guests frequently congratulated me on finding such a beautiful venue and on the quality of the food. I cannot recommend the Bell highly enough. It is a wonderful, beautiful, fun venue with staff that will make your day absolutely unforgettable. We will never forget what the Bell and all the staff did for us on our special day and The Bell will always have a special place in our hearts!
We cannot thank you and every single member of the team that was on duty over the weekend of the 21st September enough, for your hard work, dedication and impeccable attention to detail. We (and every single one of our guests that we have spoken to since) were blown away with the level of service that we received. In fact, both Tasha and I have discussed on several occasions now, how it feels as though the team at the Bell were just as much a part of our wedding day celebrations as our loved ones were, in making the day as special and memorable as it was! So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much!! Quite simply, we would recommend you guys in a heartbeat and so too, would all of our guests! For you are all marvellous!
We got married at The Bell in Ticehurst on 3rd March 2018 in the snow! It was absolutely magical. The Bell is such an amazing and welcoming venue with so much character. The staff were fantastic and the day ran so smoothly, we had nothing to do except enjoy our day. The accommodation is of a very high standard, classy and cosy, and the food was stunning. Our wedding was intimate and memorable, I can’t wait to go back to The Bell for our first anniversary to relive our memories.
I think all our guests commented on what a cool and quirky venue The Bell is and how smoothly the day ran. We got married at The Bell on 3rd June 2023 and had the best day. The staff were absolutely brilliant and ensured the day ran like clockwork. They were friendly and attentive and went above and beyond to accommodate an unwell bridesmaid! A big shout out to Becky, who was on hand to give advice and guidance whenever we needed it and ensured all our questions were answered. And also a big shout out to Jess, who, along with Becky and the team, made the day what it was and put us at ease. The food was delicious, the staff were excellent, the venue was lovely, and the day exceeded our expectations! Cannot recommend The Bell enough.
Married June 2023
Five stars does not seem nearly enough for this wonderful venue and dedicated staff team. Getting married at The Bell was a magical experience. The Bell itself is unusual, exciting, historical, quirky, romantic, dramatic, cosy and comfortable. The Wedding Co-Ordinator and the team were meticulous about every detail to ensure that we were able to enjoy our special day. Nothing was too much trouble and the service was second to none. We stayed in the Love Nest on our wedding night and enjoyed a wonderful cosy breakfast in the morning. Our guests were so impressed with the venue, service and food; we were grateful that our guests were able to enjoy the day almost as much as we did!
Dearest Tessa, Pip, Zoe & Team, Our Wedding day was perfect and it was purely due to your love, care and amazing service. Thank you for dealing with our demands, harsh words when stressed but most of all, the care you took with us and all our guests.
We kept hearing The Bell mentioned as a wedding venue so threw it into the venue pot mix at the last minute, only to walk round it and know straight away that it was just perfect for us. We loved its quirky style and the intimate feel of it. The fact the whole wedding party could stay on site was a bonus but we also loved having the outside space as well as inside. We have had so many comments from everyone about how much they loved the venue and that the food was stunning – which it was. Tessa was an amazing wedding coordinator and the day just ran so smoothly. I would highly recommend this wedding venue to any prospective bride and groom.
We wanted to send a massive thank you to the team for making our day so special on Saturday.
You are all brilliant at your jobs. From Becky and Pip answering a gazillion questions from us to Paris and the crew working hard before and during the wedding. Special shout out to Osca,r who on the day was a dream but also made sure we had fun during our tasting too. The barman and the rest of the staff too were such good fun.
Everyone loved the decor, the food and the rooms /lodges. The firepit and garden were the cherry on top of an enormous, multi-layered beautiful cake.
Married April 2023
The Bell delivered in spades, and we had the most perfect wedding day. The Bell was the first and only venue we saw, and we knew instantly we had to have our wedding there. Everyone who came commented on how well-suited the venue was to our tastes, and it was everyone’s first pub wedding. We have since had many friends who want to jump on the bandwagon and have a pub wedding, too! It really is the most cosy, quirky venue. Everyone who stayed enjoyed their rooms and were only sad they didn’t get to spend more time in them, which is also how we felt about the Love Nest! An extra night to relax in that bathtub would have been amazing – we can all dream!
Becky – thank you for your guidance throughout the whole booking and organising process. Even though you hadn’t been in your role for a long time, you absolutely could not tell! Your knowledge of all things “The Bell” and weddings was great, so thank you! Thank you also for being at the end of the phone/email line for any issues and always getting back to us quickly.
All of The Bell team on the day were fabulous and the whole day ran seamlessly. Special thanks to Josie – you were so lovely, attentive and friendly to all our guests and gently reminded us of times, etc. So gently and professionally.
Everyone absolutely raved about the food. I think all the plates were completely licked clean!
Married November 2023
My husband and I were married at The Bell on December 10th. The Bell was the first wedding venue we looked at and we knew straight away that we wouldn’t need to look at any more! I can’t really put into words how grateful we are to everyone there – from Tessa who was so quick (and always so friendly) to answer any questions we had throughout planning, to Pip and Hannah for whom nothing was too much on the day itself (including trying to get red wine out of my wedding dress), to the amazing chefs who left our guests feeling very satisfied! So many of our guests have commented on how brilliant the venue was – the whole day had such a cosy and relaxed feel to it, although nothing is quite as cosy as the wonderful Love Nest.
We had the perfect wedding at The Bell. Everything leading up to it was carefully covered by the lovely Tessa and the day itself couldn’t have gone better for us, helped along by the tireless Chloe and the rest of the events team. It went like clockwork and many, many of our guests have commented on how much the venue contributed to our day. We’ll be back time and again. Thanks, all.
It’s difficult to know where to start other than to say that The Bell is the PERFECT wedding venue. There isn’t one thing we could fault: from the very beginning Tessa, our coordinator was fantastic (if you’re reading this – thank you again!), the venue is so charmingly quirky, the accommodation is wonderfully luxurious, the staff (especially Hannah and Eve) were the pinnacle of helpfulness and professionalism – oh, and every guest we spoke to said it was the best wedding food they’d ever tasted! They really did everything to ensure it was the best day of our lives and if we could get married again we’d choose The Bell every time in a heartbeat!
We can’t speak highly enough of how great our wedding was. Tessa, our contact in the run-up, is an efficient, lovely, friendly and caring girl – an absolute star. Chloe, who ran the show on the day, kept it moving along perfectly and was brilliant in ensuring the day was smooth and hitch-free (apart from the getting-hitched bit!). Matt and the rest of the team grafted away tirelessly and were brilliant both on the day and with the gentle service at breakfast the next morning! Jorge and Oscar, the Colombian gents at front of house and in the kitchen – awesome food guys, thanks so much. And the rooms are stunning, unique and lovely. Thank you so much, we’ll never forget you!
Yes, they are.
Yes, they are very welcome in all parts of The Bell!
No, all available rooms will be blocked out and held for you until two months before the wedding. At this point, you would complete an accommodation form and send it back to us, and we then release any you do not need.
We do not allow for external caterers for food and drink. We do offer corkage for wine, beer and spirits!
