Neidpath is just 45 minutes from Edinburgh airport and train station, but feels as rural and beautiful as Scotland can be. Perched on a cliff above the River Tweed, just beside the charming town of Peebles, where there is plenty of extra accommodation for your guests.
Neidpath is a genuine fairytale castle, with vaulted chambers, tapestries, spiral stairs, battlements and even a well and dungeon to explore.
You could have the ceremony in the Laigh Hall or outdoors and then the Wedding Breakfast in the Great Hall, hung with tapestries. The whole castle is open for you and your guests to enjoy, with plenty of great photo opportunities throughout.
Neidpath is very atmospheric, with real candles and roaring log fires lit all over the castle. You can use Queen Mary’s Chamber for the bridal party to get ready in before the ceremony, and after dinner, the Laigh Hall and Guard’s Bar are fabulous for dancing and partying the night away.
You can choose to have their large braziers in the courtyard for chatting around, and there are plenty of quieter spots to have a calm moment away from the main party.
Just a quick note, to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped us make such a perfect white wedding in the snow at Neidpath on New Years Eve. It was truly the best and most memorable day of our life.
Married December 2020
Thank you so much for all you did for us to make our weekend so perfect. Everyone commented on the castle being such a brilliant venue and so idyllic.
An unbeatable Venue for Our Wedding!
Perfect in every way. We just came back from our wedding which was held at Neidpath Castle. Lulu and her team were faultless and made sure everything went without a hitch, helping us plan and host the perfect day. Our guests LOVED the venue and enjoyed looking around the castle after dark. Perfect place for the dream Scottish wedding. The castle looked beautiful – all the fires and candles lit in the evening – and the layout and set up for the day worked so well. Cannot recommend highly enough for a large private event or wedding.
What a fantastic time we had at Neidpath Castle on our wedding day, 25th August! Heartfelt thanks to you for your calm organisation before, during and after the wedding to ensure that everything went smoothly. The castle looked absolutely stunning and we were so impressed with you and your team’s flexibility in arrangements and your attention to detail to make everything perfect.
Make the most of the different parts of the castle and grounds to keep your guests amused all day. With 5 floors of castle and lots of outdoor space, there are plenty of places to create lovely surprises!
We have a wonderful Honeymoon Suite in Queen Mary's Chamber for the couple, as well as the Barmkin next door that sleeps 6. We also have 3 lovely properties a mile away at Barns, that sleep a further 10 people. Peebles itself has a large variety of hotels and B&Bs and is only half a mile from the castle.
Yes, we can arrange for you to use the kitchen for a small pre or post wedding dinner or brunch.
We have a list of additional options such as a red carpet, music system, ceremonial cake cutting knife, ball pit in the dungeon and the services of our piper.
Lots of people ask this as Sir Walter Scott wrote a famous romantic ballad about The Maid of Neidpath, who was a girl called Jean Douglas who lived at the castle in the late 1600s. We have never seen her, and despite the long and interesting history of the castle and its inhabitants, it has a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
