The Knot & Pop girls are back on Coco with a bang!
Knot & Pop are London-based wedding and event planners who plan, style and manage events for clients throughout the UK and Europe. They do all of this with a mix of style and flair and so they are absolutely the perfect pair to be guiding us on the topic of themes.
With just three simple steps you could be on your way to creating your day, your way.
Over to the ladies…
Couples are forever searching out that something special for their big day. Something that fully reflects them on their day, something that feels unique to them, their memories and their moments to last a life-time.
But how do you pin point that elusive wedding theme, and the look and feel that you’d like to create to set the scene for your big day…?

step # 1
Tease out your tales…
Seeing as this special day is all about you two, that’s where we suggest you start when it comes to getting those ideas flowing.
Grab a bottle of your favourite tipple, sit down together and chat about your vision for the day. Think about the atmosphere, the things that really sum you up as a couple, your loves and experiences from your life together. Use this time to tease out your tales, to find a narrative for the day, so that your shared loves and personalities shine through.
Inspiration from this session can be used to shape the tone of the day, colour scheme, entertainment and those extra special touches.
Perhaps you first met on your travels, island-hoping and so this is reflected with a beautiful colour palette of gold, aqua, navy and cream, representing the colours of the waves on the shore. Perhaps you have a shared love; be it for animals, favourite past-times or a much treasured time and place, so why not then centre some of the details of the day around these loves.
Afterall, it’s about having your day, your way.

Step # 2
Draw inspiration…
Once you have some ideas around the look and feel of the day, drawing on some outside influences can help flesh these out and help you apply your ideas in a practical sense.
Feast your eyes on some bridal magazines and blogs, and don’t be afraid to draw inspiration from unusual places. From an interesting object found in at a flea market to an art exhibition, or the pictures that line your wall at home, inspiration for your day can be found in the things you love and surround yourself with.
At Knot & Pop we are not dictated by trends, preferring that the style of the wedding stems from your personality and loves, ensuring that your guests really get a sense of you both of your big day.

# Step 3
Create a visual reference…
Having gathered some visual treats and inspiration, the next step is to create some mood boards that act as a great guide to filter and focus your thoughts.
This will enable you to lay out ideas and shape each area, helping to ensure the theme flows through each element. Importantly they will also act as a steer for your chosen suppliers – including a visual and written brief for each will mean they are totally clear on the style and direction you are looking for.
We suggest initially creating a scene setter board that sums up the overall look. Then break things down into a number of key areas including; food and drink, florals, table-tops, stationery, guest entertainment, including your colour palette to thread everything together.
Now, a little word about a certain obsession we all share. Pinterest. Yes, that incredible feast for the eyes, and pool of inspiration. The dresses! The hair! The style! The endless beauty….
Yes, go forth, pin, pin to your hearts content. Gather your inspiration, but, we challenge you to use self-restraint and focus, Once you have created a set of boards of ideas and inspiration, step away from the Pin Board, or there is a danger your ideas will become confused, lost in the pretty and wedding wilderness!
Whatever your theme, you’ll know it’s the one when it raises a smile, gets you giddy and fills you with excitement. Much like your fella!
