DIY: Creative Christmas Entertaining!

Images by Capture by Lucy.

There’s something different happening this Christmas, something altogether grown-up and scary. We, The Hlas, are hosting our first Christmas! Yep, we’re staying put by the sea and welcoming my in-laws to celebrate the festive season with us.

So cue frantic Christmas purchasing (I may have already bought up The White Company), Roast Dinner practice sessions, last minute decorating and to-do lists galore! You might think I’m being dramatic, but kids we only have something like 7 weeks until Christmas! So with this in mind and my new hostess hat on, I pretty much jumped at the chance to try out the fabulous new festive eCourse from the award-winning Pudding Bridge.

Gorgeous and stress-free parties promised, the Creative Christmas Entertaining Made Easy eCourse is the perfect mix of creative projects, recipes, ideas and advice. Featuring step-by-step craft guides, instructional videos and helpful printables, you’ll learn how to make gilded crockery, embellished napkins, floral arrangements, cocktails & mocktails, canapés and much more!

The Look by Amber Persia; A Modern Vintage Palette

Images by Amber Persia | Flowers & Events.

The Look‘ by Amber Persia is back and today we’re exploring this to-die-for Modern Vintage palette. Amber has perfected the art of mixing old with new, vintage with high-street and yes, these florals are pretty gorgeous right…?

Read on to find how to create a vintage tablescape…

Notes from Amber Persia

A hint of the past with a modern twist; individual, colourful and with masses of old fashioned romance. A palette of blush, peach, rich pink, ivory and pops of vibrant orange, all set against a background of richest turquoise, brings a freshness to the florals, whilst the choice of flowers (scented roses, ranunculus, tulips, hellebores and lilac) adds to the glamorous feel. Source props from both the past and the present and use pieces which are special to you; the wonderful antique bedspread is a family heirloom, the Edwardian glassware has been picked up in antique shops, charity shops and good old Ebay, whilst the intricate cutlery came from Zara Home.

The Look by Amber Persia; A Coastal Cool Tablescape

Feature Image by Amber Persia | Flowers & Events.

I’m excited to introduce the first instalment of ‘The Look‘ by Amber Persia… In this series, Amber will be creating beautiful inspiration features that focus on each of the six Coco Style Categories, perfect for your own big day inspiration.

Today we’re taking a trip to the beach in this rather haunting portrayal of my fave category – Coastal Cool. With a simple, but effective tablescape and a mix of vintage treasures and high-street picks, Amber is guiding you through how to recreate ‘The Look‘…

Notes from Amber Persia

A relaxed weather worn look; laid back, understated but with just a hint of glamour. Soft painterly faded florals overlaid on stone-washed linen introduces a subtle contrast in textures. A palette of softest dove grey and shades of blue and stone evoke the colours of the sea and the sky.

Forage the beach for nature’s gifts; rocks tumbled in the ocean for millions of years with holes perfect for taper candles. Contrast with exquisite cut glass and antique silver to highlight the beauty of both the found and the crafted. Planks of salvaged driftwood become rustic table runners whilst wonderfully smooth and tactile pebbles become vessels for natural sea salt and crushed peppercorns.

  • A roll of Oasis natural bind wire or natural string
  • Floristry scissors
