From the team behind last year’s hottest party spot – Kin House – comes LIMEKILN– a brand new private-hire events space in Sussex, opening its doors in April 2024. Designed with the same hallmarks of considered interior design, service, curated activities and signature luxuries, LIMEKILN provides space for guests to gather and tell a story – hosting everything from private lunches, weddings and wild parties to team away days and creative showcases.
Set against a backdrop of Sussex countryside, LIMEKILN is surrounded by sixty acres of private land, including a 9-hole golf course and ancient woodland, from which the lodge takes its name. The location, which has been gradually re-naturalised with wildflowers and bees, is the ideal setting for those seeking a venue tailored to fabulous, private-hire events.
DESIGN
The whitewashed timber cladding and large metal windows that characterise LIMEKILN’s exterior are inspired by rural Sussex architecture. Inside, design is led by Red Deer, the creative studio behind Lina Stores and St John. Warm, earthy colours recall artwork by the famous Bloomsbury group, who frequently gathered at nearby Charleston.
Guests are welcomed inside Kiln Bar, a large central lounge with a showstopping floor-to-ceiling fireplace clad in individually hand-painted and fired tiles by bespoke ceramicist Emma Louise Payne. Considered the heart of the lodge, the interior design features a large central bar and a mix of antique furniture combined with colourful Ceraudo armchairs, Nicola Harding sofas and bespoke fabrics from Pierre Frey’s Le Manach Collection.
Next door, the Green Club contrasts to create a low-ceiling intimate speakeasy, combining opulent chandeliers, oak cobbled flooring, antique mirrored walls and sumptuous velvet curtains—a space for after-hours drinks, cosy private dining and late-night dancing lounge.
PAMPER
The split-level Apartment makes for the perfect place to relax and get ready before an event.
The ground-level bathroom is kitted out with a hair-washing station, a large round bath and a rain shower, where guests can get pampered and schedule pre-dinner treatments. Peach tile ‘Morocco Salt’ flooring and linen pendant lights adorn the room, while a sumptuous seating nook offers a place to relax with help-yourself snack baskets and a drinks fridge.
Tucked away on the top floor, you’ll also find a multipurpose dressing room with exposed wooden beams, Bien Fait ‘Duncan’ printed wallpaper, and a handmade mahogany rose window looking out across the Sussex countryside.
COURTYARD
The white walls of LIMEKILN wrap around a central open-air courtyard adorned with parasols, striped sofas, armchairs, and bistro tables for soaking up the sunshine. The Mediterranean-style courtyard is designed for drinks receptions or al fresco lunches and dinners.
PARTY
Move further through the building, and you’ll find Poplar Hall and the Alder Room — the Lodge’s two largest spaces — which can be used for dining, dancing, and ceremonies.
The beautiful Poplar Hall can host up to 200 for a seated meal and 300 for drinks receptions. It features elegant chandeliers, floor-to-ceiling metal doors, niches along the walls and a striking bespoke hand-painted frieze designed by Sussex-based artist Tess Newall, taking inspiration from the Bloomsbury Group’s painting style colour scheme.
Perfect for ceremonies, the Alder Room has a capacity for 140-person dining and 200 seated, showcasing a barn-inspired design with exposed beams, herringbone flooring and lightweight linen curtains to add a soft, romantic touch to the occasion.
FEAST
LIMEKILN has partnered with the best caterers in the UK to offer a diverse range of menus and dining options, creating a feast for all kinds of parties and occasions. Their food philosophy is simple: delicious, British ingredients and unfussy cooking that celebrates the joy of eating.
EXPERIENCES
The lodge is perfectly situated for outdoor activities and dining against a woodland backdrop and rolling Sussex countryside. Picnic lunches, BBQs and lawn games, winter walks, hot toddies by the fire, or a round of golf on the private nine-hole course are just a few things to keep guests busy.
Whether you would like to take over the lodge for a day, a morning or an evening, the team on hand have over ten years of experience planning parties and events for any occasion.
Curated with the same hallmarks as Kin House, LIMEKILN will also offer creative workshops such as pottery, floristry, block-printing, and wellness classes, including yoga and Pilates, meditation, forest bathing, and sound baths.
Arriving in April 2024, LIMEKILN will set the bar high for all parties and events.
