They perform at over 50 weddings each year and bring their skills and expertise with them to make sure your wedding party goes off without a hitch! Regional Finalists for ‘Best Wedding Band 2020’ at The Wedding Industry Awards, band member James is here to tell us a little more about what they do.
James says…
We started this band because we wanted to offer luxury wedding entertainment at an affordable price. We are a self-managed band meaning clients avoid paying 20% plus in agency fees by booking Over the Threshold.
The reason we do this is simple! We LOVE seeing people enjoying themselves on the dance floor.
Our Services
We like to consider ourselves as wedding enthusiasts, party-starters and all-round entertainers! And as such we offer various services to couples looking for a live wedding band – from a live first dance, afternoon acoustic sets and a DJ service. We can offer three requests performed live and we have plenty of optional extras which can be viewed on our website.
We have one simple aim, and that’s to fill your dance floor for the whole evening. Aside from that, customer service and prompt replies to messages and being accommodating also sit firmly with us.
Pricing + Packages
Over the Threshold’s prices start from £799.
Unlike some bands we don’t offer individual packages priced differently, but we do offer optional extras such as an afternoon reception session, additional time for an evening set or a female vocalist.
We have an inclusive pricing structure so there’s no surprises and no agency fees. We’re fully insured and our equipment is PAT certified and we’re happy to provide all the usual and relevant details to your booked wedding venue.
We know weddings are expensive which is why we also offer the option to spread the cost over a period of time.

Advice on Booking a Wedding Band
The most important advice we can give is to always watch live footage of a band before you book! Watching over-dubbed showreels will give you a really good feel for the band – how they look and how they interact with each other. But for a true representation of how they will sound on the night, find some live footage of the band in question. Having said that, if you love watching them on video you’ll no doubt love what they do in real life!
It’s all well and good hiring a wedding band who sound the bees knees, but what if they’re the rudest people you’ve ever met? What if they turn up late on the regular? The best way to make sure you’re getting a truly professional wedding band is to check their reviews – whether that’s on the search platform you found them on, Google or social media.
Lastly, when looking for a band check out their set-lists to see if their music choices are up your street – but don’t just think about you and your partner’s loves. If you want everyone up and dancing then the band will have to crossover to many tastes and ages. The best wedding bands cover all grounds, playing tunes from the 50s through to the present day, skipping from rock to pop to motown and back again.
