I’ve always wanted to get married in Italy, and have a wedding reception in an orangery, but knowing that we would face logistics and travel issues I decided to see if I could have what I wanted on UK soil. So whilst on holiday and sipping a sangria, I searched ‘orangery’ and ‘Italian gardens’ and came across Orchardleigh House & Estate. The venue had its own church on the grounds and within 24hrs I had booked a viewing!
The church (with no running power and only candles as your source of light) coupled with The Walled Garden was perfect. In addition we rented cottages adjacent to the venue which meant we could party way into the early hours (4am cut off!). The layout allowed for all party goers to be together yet have enough space to venture off into the various areas. Transportation between different parts of the day was limited and therefore the whole day felt streamlined.
We opted for a neutral colour palette of mostly white tones with a touch of soft metallics. I wanted a timeless design with a sense of serenity and romance.
After some floral quotes that didn’t quite fit our budget, we decided to do our own flowers. The venue was decorated with a variety of fresh and artificial flowers, so we added peonies, orchids, roses, freesia, astilbe, eucalyptus, ruscus & hypericum to name a few.
Natasha’s images will transcend beyond time. Every couple she has captured (and has yet to capture) are blessed to have such a talented, wholesome creative human there to help remember the moments that merge into the blissful memory of what is our special day.
Best part of the day
It’s hard to pinpoint it to one moment, it was everything and nothing all at once. The love we felt and the love that surrounded us throughout the day was magical.

Although your wedding day is going to be one of the greatest highlights in your life it is one day and it is important that you don’t feel pressured into making decisions that will affect you beyond your wedding day. Plan your day with no regrets, you only do it once (I hope!).
