Sarah & Matt’s Coastal Wedding at Tredudwell Manor

Sarah says…

We chose Tredudwell for the beautiful setting and sea views. We loved the relaxed atmosphere when we viewed it and the ability to make our wedding our own. We wanted to get married outside for our June wedding (which we could do!), but we loved that Tredudwell offered a good inside option if the weather didn’t allow for this, so we had no worries.

As many of our guests had to travel long distances for our wedding, we wanted to have a BBQ on Sunday. The venue’s flexibility allowed us to accommodate this, leaving on Monday morning.

My dress was from Colins Bridal in Callington, a friendly local bridal boutique. Kenneth Winston designed it. Hannah Symons did my makeup, and Melody Rose did my hair—both were lovely and relaxing on the wedding morning, and I was so happy with the result! As both my bridesmaids live far away from me (one in Michigan, USA!), we ordered their dresses online using a website called Azazie. It worked well as they offer a ‘try on’ option before buying, so we could get sizes and styles right beforehand!

The venue is so beautiful, so we didn’t feel the need to go over the top with too much decor. We focused on flowers, which Becca provided from The Garden Gate Flower Company. They grow their own flowers in fields and in polytunnels that are under 12 miles away from beautiful Tredudwell Manor, so we wanted to embrace the field-to-table, seasonal ethos of truly locally grown flowers.

Working closely with Becca, she created a seasonal colour palette in soft pastel tones highlighting elegant creams, pale pinks and champagne tones. My bouquet was filled with a balance of flowering Philadelphus ‘Belle Etoile’, which carried a beautiful mock orange scent; Rosa Champagne Moment sat deep within the arrangement whilst sweetly scented Hesperis and Nigella danced happily on the top layer. With over ten different varieties in my bouquet, this was a garden-gathered arrangement that embraced the June garden’s beautiful offerings. June at The Garden Gate Flower Company offers an explosion of flowers in the garden. Deciding what to pick can often be hard, but working with Becca was a wonderful experience. We were happy to embrace the best of the garden on the day. My friend has a stationery business and is very talented, so she provided the table plan, order of service, menus, etc. We hired linen napkins from The Knotted Napkin Company, and the colours matched perfectly.

Our caterer, Richard McGeown, was amazing when we first spoke. He is so relaxed but also gave us complete confidence in his ability to cater for our big day. He was incredibly flexible, offering a meat, fish and vegetarian option. We had sharing starter boards, which were a real hit! Richard was also amazing at setting the room out, providing the correct-sized tables that would work for our guests, and providing all the required tableware—we didn’t have to think about a thing! Becca used a collection of vintage bud vases and marmalade jars with single varieties to highlight the delicate flowers for the tables. Each table had a different selection of flowers within the chosen soft colour palette. From roses to asparagus ferns, a timeless, elegant floral collection was created so guests could indulge in their beauty while dining!

Polly Webb provided our cake. Instead of one larger cake, we opted for a smaller cake for cutting and cupcakes. This was great as the cupcakes could be boxed up overnight and brought out again on Sunday for the BBQ. We had seriously delicious toppings such as Biscoff and other chocolates!

Dan Ward was our photographer. We loved his style when looking on Instagram and at his portfolio online beforehand, so we were delighted when he was free to do our wedding photos. He took on the brief of not having too many posed photos, capturing the moments, which are all very natural. He took us to the cliff tops for photos, too, which we loved firstly for the images but also because we had half an hour as a newly married couple!

From one couple to another…

We are not experts by any means! We just wanted our wedding to be a relaxed, fun weekend, and we were so lucky to be able to trust our suppliers to use the venue knowledge to give us an excellent day!
