Their Bridgerton-inspired cake and surprise Elton John impersonator added a bit of fun to the celebrations. Captured beautifully by Carla Whittingham, the day was everything they had hoped for. Their advice? Don’t sweat the small stuff—just enjoy it!
Thicket Priory was the third place we viewed. We were due to see more, but from the moment we walked in, it felt right. It had such a nice feel—I could imagine us there on the day. It was stylish and not at all stuffy. I loved that we could have all our closest friends and family there for the weekend, not just on Saturday. We cancelled all other viewings after that. After the wedding, we received many compliments from guests about how stunning the venue was and how well it was run.
We’re both quite traditional, so we went for a morning suit for George, which suited him brilliantly as he’s so tall. I tried on every dress in London, but I fell in love with an Elie Saab dress with a sweetheart neckline, 3D petals and a detachable tulle overskirt. My favourite part of the whole look was the veil – adorned with 3D flowers. The dress also came in a mini, and I was lucky enough to find that on a second-hand site, so I snapped that up for the evening, too!
I would describe it as a classic English summer wedding with a romantic twist. Our colour scheme was white, pale pink, pale gold, and green. Laura at Mint and Moose was brilliant. I think I was most “bridezilla” about the flowers. I sent her a flower guide with images of what I liked and didn’t like. I think that worked because she nailed it. The flowers were stunning, especially the flower crowns of the bridesmaids.
The cake was by Where the Ribbon Ends. It was very Bridgerton in style, all white with red cherries. I can’t remember the flavours, but it was delicious!! We had a model made of our dog and he was nibbling the back of it!
We chose Carla Whittingham, and she was great. She was very thoughtful, and we hardly noticed her. She did a lovely job. Big shout out to our videographer, James Tracey, who is unbelievably talented.
We hired an Elton John impersonator to surprise our guests during the wedding breakfast. It was so funny!
It sounds obvious, but try not to get stressed about small things that go wrong in the lead-up. I was so worried about some little things the day before, and I wish I had just enjoyed it!
