Nestled in the heart of East London, Weddings at Queen Mary offers extraordinary venues in a very unique setting. The canal on site presents unrivalled opportunities for photography and videography. Conveniently located in Zone 2, the venue is easily accessible by tube, bus, train and by car, with good connections to all London airports.
Dating back to 1887 their Victorian People’s Palace of delight was designed as a place for the community to come together in the concert hall, the reading rooms and the picture galleries.
Today the magnificent venues are available to hire as the backdrop to one of the most important days you’ll remember forever. Breathtakingly romantic, their Grade II listed spaces offer peace and opulence allowing unrivalled opportunities for photography
and videography on your special day.
Their experienced and dedicated team will offer you support throughout the essential planning stages and ensure that your wedding day is everything that you dream of, and more.
The Octagon can accommodate ceremonies and receptions for up to 240 guests. This stunning venue was built in 1888 and was originally the Queen Mary library, designed by Victorian architect ER Robson and inspired by the Reading Room at the British Museum. The domed ceiling reaches an impressive three storeys high and busts of famous literati surround the dome including Shakespeare, Wordsworth and Chaucer to name a few.
The Senior Common Room can accommodate ceremonies for up to 100 guests. This historical venue is located in the iconic Queens’ Building, overlooking the Queens’ Lawn and Victorian Clocktower. This exclusive use private members club offers harmony and serenity, providing you and your guests a very private location for your wedding ceremony.
They recognise that their menus may not suit all cultural requirements and therefore the Octagon is available to book on a ‘dry hire’ basis. Pre-approved external caterers are permitted into this incredible Grade II listed space, enabling you to create the wedding day of your dreams.
Thank you very much for a great experience and helping us have the best day of our lives! The staff were there throughout the whole day to make sure everything was set up and running smoothly and we loved the atmosphere, efficiency and freedom to relax.

We cannot recommend QMUL enough as a venue for your wedding. We chose The Octagon at QMUL as our reception venue having fallen in love with the space on going to see it – it really is even more breathtaking when you see it in person. From the start Saran has been great to deal with. We had a lot of questions and she answered them all in good time, we always felt confident in her and her calm and relaxed nature helped us to feel relaxed, safe in the knowledge that our planning was in good hands! The day ran so smoothly thanks to Saran and her catering and hospitality team. The food was absolutely delicious. We had lots of positive comments from guests about the food, the staff and the location. We could not have asked for more from a wedding venue and had the best day.

We chose the Octagon because of the ambiance and the beautiful room. On the day everything went smoothly and according to plan.

Leaving a gushing review is the least we can do in return for the wonderful hospitality you provided us and our guests with. The food and service both got rave reviews and the brickwall guestbook (jonnyconcrete.com) you recommended was the most amazing hit – so East London! QM couldn’t have done more for us. Thank you!
We had a wonderful day, and it was thanks to the QMUL team for a great job to support us. They were flexible on several of our requests and I never had to worry. Plus the venue makes for some great photos!
