The Hackney

We are happy to host external caterers. We have a kitchen access charge of £600+VAT, which includes a kitchen porter on the day to clean the kitchen. We only accept professional caterers with insurance and a current hygiene certificate.

Where you are using an external caterer that doesn't require access to our kitchen there is no charge. We cannot host BBQ or outdoor cooking.

Normal tableware pricing applies for any sit-down event. For standing events where using our cutlery/crockery there is a charge of £3 per head hire and washing fee.

We also ask for a breakages deposit of £150, which is returned 7 days after the event if everything is in order. We will provide your caterer with an inventory schedule with costs (for breakages) prior to the event.

Unfortunately we do not allow external drinks to be brought into the venue. We work with some of the best suppliers in the industry and can source a range of wines, spirits and beers if there is something particular you require.

You are welcome to put a budget behind the bar, after which we can charge your guests directly if you wish.

Due to the close proximity of neighbours living above us we do have sound restrictions placed on us. We can host DJs provided they plug into our PA system (we do not allow external speakers to be brought in).

We do allow some live music as follows:

- Acoustic groups, no bigger than a quartet.

- Small amplification no higher than 10W or with no amplification instruments allowed

- Singers / a capella singers

- Acoustic guitar and other similar instruments (e.g. ukulele, banjo, sitar, etc), double bass, violoncelo, violin

- Small percussion sets (e.g. one snare drum or cajon or congas/bongos) but only one percussion instrument allowed

- Harp

- Piano keyboard

Instruments not allowed:

- Electric guitar

- Electric bass, brass instruments, wind/pipe instruments

- Grand piano/organs

- Drum sets and other big percussion instruments and sets

- DJ decks

In all cases the live music sets must finish by 10pm.
