Set amongst sacred groves of ancient oak woodland and pasture, equidistant between Dartmoor & Exmoor (30 mins drive from the city of Exeter & M5) Hayne Devon sits within the rolling green countryside of rural Mid Devon. Hidden down a maze of high banked lanes, the site faces out towards a breath-taking valley which steps gently down to a bend in the river Yeo. South facing, it gets the first and last of the sun.
The creative duo behind the magic of Hayne are its owners and hosts, Tim and Milla, lead artists in the much celebrated party band Saloon Star. Heralded as the ‘Best Band in the Business’ by House & Garden, and recently listed as ‘Best Wedding Party Band’ in Harpers Bazaar. It was this invaluable ‘gained experience’ that led the couple to move their young family out of London to create their own dream party venue.
When they bought Hayne, it was on its way to being a crumbling ruin, where nature had finally won the battle for control. For the past five years Tim & Milla, with the help of local master craftsmen, painstakingly renovated the cob, lime & oak barns, reclaimed the walled gardens and 25 acres of surrounding pasture & woodland. A journey on an epic scale led them to turn the grade II * listed farmstead into a fully functioning party and events venue.
Hayne Devon is a young and creative 48 hour exclusive use wedding venue. The vibe is relaxed, enchanting and soulful. The style would suit anyone who is into historic, rustic-chic, boho, eco-lux, vintage with modern up to date technology, Hayne is a one off – it’s a classic. Stunning on site accommodation includes The Long Barn, Shepherd’s Hut, Bunk Cabin, Yurts & Bell Tents. You can even bring your own caravan, campervan or tent!
The substantial and versatile venue is made up of three interlinking spaces; The Threshing Barn, Glass Link & Rustic Lean To. Beautiful interiors feature 17th Century Oak Joinery, cob and lime structure, biomass under floor flooring, (characterful old buildings with modern up to date technology) a mix of state of the art and reclaimed stylish lighting and a handcrafted fully stocked bar, complete with disco ball.
These three interconnecting spaces can be scaled to suit a full range of different events. This enables the client to adapt the usage to suit the number of guests, the flow of proceedings and level of intimacy they may wish to create. Each space can be decorated simply to further enhance the existing naturalistic beauty of the buildings or be styled and dressed up to the hilt, making it a statement space in which to entertain.
For even larger events (250+), the lawn area directly in front of the Threshing Barn was landscaped to accommodate the very biggest of marquees or ‘Giant Hat’ tipis giving further versatility and scope to the venue.
Hosts, Tim & Milla’s passion for beautiful characterful buildings and landscape, warm spacious interiors, great lighting, sound and luxurious accommodation has led them on a very creative journey. With an unswerving vision and keen eye for interiors & styling, a very unique and inspirational place has come into being.
