There is a wild beauty to Glen Dye that defines every wedding held here. Surrounded by ancient forest, the peaty River Dye, and the tor of Clachnaben, the landscape provides a quiet sense of grandeur. Ceremonies unfold across various locations, from hidden woodland spaces to characterful converted buildings, all with expansive views of the Scottish countryside. The Glen Dye Arms – likely Scotland’s smallest BYOB pub – offers a fittingly unusual way to end the celebrations, with a long evening among friends.
Smaller ceremonies suit the woodland sites or The Smiddy, with its distinctive yellow floor. For larger gatherings, the Woodshed and a marquee accommodate extended guest lists. The venues can be used individually or in combination.
The Glen Dye Arms invites guests to round off the day in an intimate, unhurried style. This BYOB pub is quirky, welcoming, and entirely your own for the night. A marquee and the Woodshed offer space for dancing and gathering into the early hours.
There are twelve individually designed places to stay, accommodating up to 64 guests in comfort. A mix of cabins, cottages and bothies sit across the estate. For larger weddings, Glen Dye can welcome up to 140 guests on the day, and the entire estate can be reserved for exclusive use.
At Glen Dye, they take food very seriously, particularly when it’s cooked on open fires (their hallmark). They have extensive experience in high-end catering, with several award-winning hospitality venues and as founders of one of Britain’s pre-eminent food festivals.
From relaxed, traditional Scottish barbecues to multi-course fine-dining experiences, they know the best chefs around to make the food at your wedding a showstopper.
Glen Dye is located off the B974, between Fettercairn and Banchory. From the south, take the A90 to Edzell, then follow signs to Fettercairn and over the Cairn O’Mount. From the north, travel south from Banchory via Strachan. The estate lies at the Bridge of Dye, just near the snow gates.
Aberdeen Airport is a 40-minute drive, and car hire or collection is available. Edinburgh Airport is roughly 1 hour and 40 minutes away.
