The Setting

The romantic ambience of Cambridgeshire’s Bassmead Manor Barns is apparent from the moment you arrive along the tree-lined driveway. Charming and elegant, this family-owned barn, nestled within the medieval moat of an ancient manor house, offers a heady combination of history and heritage, alongside contemporary style and exceptional service.

The Vibe

Couples are invited to tie the knot in the 300-year old Rickety Barn, a lovingly restored traditional timber barn with solid oak beams and wrought iron chandeliers. With twinkling fairy lights, it’s the perfect space for that ‘I do’ moment. Seating up to 150 guests, it also features a ‘nook’ on the second floor, the ideal spot for a photographer or musician.

After the ceremony has taken place, invite your guests to enjoy reception drinks in the modern Moat Barn with its sophisticated bar, spilling out on to the pretty landscaped gardens to mingle amongst the peacocks. Bridge Barn is the setting for your wedding breakfast at Bassmead Manor Barns. Modern and flooded with natural daylight, spectacular features include a dramatic timbered ceiling and impressive oak doors offering views across the gardens and moat. A delicate, neutral colour scheme gives you the opportunity to create your own style on a blank canvas, while its elegant simplicity needs little other than some beautiful floral arrangements to take the outside in.

The on-site catering and events team will work with you to create delicious food for your wedding day. Menus are expertly prepared and beautifully presented, giving you and your guests a spectacular dining experience. Every element of the day is bespoke and tailored to your needs, from the more formal wedding breakfast, to theatrical street food, barbecues, canapés and cocktails.

As the sun goes down, it’s time to dance the night away, perhaps even enjoying the patio outside and wandering in to the starlit gardens. You won’t want your day to end so, with that in mind, newlyweds can spend the night in Dove Cottage – your very own honeymoon cottage. For your closest friends and family, Appletree Cottage features seven beautifully designed bedrooms. Enjoy a breakfast together the following morning to share stories of a wonderful day.

We got married here on Sunday 14th October and it was truly the best day of our lives. Everything ran like clockwork and the venue was decorated to perfection. The team were amazing making sure the whole day ran smoothly. All of our guests commented on how delicious the food was and how beautiful the barns were. We had Rob from strobe disco do our music and announcements for the whole day and he was fab! Bassmead is a stunning venue and despite the rain we managed to get some beautiful photos outside and inside the rickety barn. We cannot recommend this wedding venue enough and would like to thank all the staff that helped make our day perfect.

We had the most amazing wedding day at Bassmead Manor Barns. The venue is stunning and we loved everything about it. Amanda was fantastic in the lead up to our wedding, helping us to get our heads around everything that needed doing and she made sure that everything ran smoothly on the day. Many of our guests commented on how beautiful the venue was and particularly enjoyed the delicious food. We had the best day and couldn’t have wished for a better venue. We just wish we could do it all over again!
