The Setting

Bake Barn on the Fonthill Estate is an understated venue where you can create your perfect day. Surrounded by open fields and a stone’s throw from Fonthill Lake it is one of three private spaces offered for hire by the estate.

Rustic, rugged, rural and romantic. This venue is in the middle of nowhere. Escape the cities and town, breathe in the country air and party in privacy. There is a touch of Wuthering Heights about the isolation of Bake Barn, yet more Mr Darcy than Heathcliff with the stunning photographic opportunities along the lake or through the woods of the Fonthill Estate.

They are situated just off the A303 in Wiltshire, with plenty of parking; or the closest train station is Tisbury on the London Waterloo line.

The Vibe

Inside Bake Barn they have exposed the natural beauty of the building with its stone walls, timber rafters and wooden floor. Dress, drape and hang decorations as you see fit. The main room has a fireplace at one end which provides a great focal point for flowers and fairy lights, or in winter simply light the fire and gather round. Upstairs there is a versatile loft space, bright and light for your ceremony or create a snug, bar or even a casino in here.

The walled perimeter around Bake Barn forms a private, sheltered courtyard. Part of this courtyard is laid to lawn where you could erect a marquee or tipi for greater dining numbers or just scatter hay bales for seating during your drinks reception. The central area is covered with gravel then on the far side is a covered loggia. The loggia and the barn are both licensed for civil ceremonies, so marry inside or out, but come nightfall, the loggia is a great sheltered space for your bar with an enormous fire-pit at one end. Sip cocktails in the open air, gossip round the fire pit and party under the stars. With no neighbours and therefore no light pollution, you are quite likely to be blessed with a starry night.

Bake Barn is suitable for guest numbers up to 120 but for a smaller gatherings they have Deer Park Barn and for a completely outdoor feel, Quarry Wood fits the alfresco bill, wedding in the wood and feasting in the forest.

Does the hire fee include VAT?
May we bring in our own catering, or provide our own booze?
Can cars be left overnight?
Do you have WiFi and a sound system, PA, things like that?
Dry hire means we have to hire our own furniture, how do we go about hiring that?
