The Assembly Rooms is one of Bath’s most prestigious venues and has been at the heart of the city’s social life since the 18th Century. With it’s original 18th century Whitefriars crystal chandeliers, high ceilings and stunning portraits, the award-winning Grade I Listed Assembly Rooms make a stylish and truly historical setting for a wedding.
There are four splendid rooms on the ground floor, designed for large assemblies and therefore perfect for weddings: the Great Octagon, Tea Room, Ball Room and Card Room. Guests can move seamlessly, behind closed doors, from room to room throughout the day. There is a small formal garden, well suited to drinks receptions and wedding photographs.
The world-renowned Fashion Museum, located on the lower ground floor, is another exciting space to hire.
The Bridal car can drive onto the forecourt outside the main entrance so that the wedding couple can make an impressive arrival and walk straight down the red carpet to their chosen room. Royal Victoria Park, The Circus and The Royal Crescent are just a short walk away and offer a choice of breath-taking backdrops for wedding photographs.
With extensive experience of holding and organising weddings, the team at Assembly Rooms offer hands-on professional expertise to guide you through the most suitable options to match your vision of the day. They are passionate about their venue and this comes through in the testimonials.
The ground floor entrance and function rooms are accessible, there’s also two access toilets on the ground floor.
Your reception can finish at 1am, with a bar closing at 12.30am. In all cases the Bar closes 30 minutes before the end.
All catering is provided by our contracted caterers Searcys, but you can choose your own suppliers for other aspects of your wedding so long as they meet our terms and conditions. See our suppliers list for suggestions. All AV suppliers are required to sign a Contractors Code of Conduct and provide Method Statements in advance of the event.
We have noise limiters at each of our venues which are set to 96dB. We recommend that bands and DJs all complete a sound check prior to the start of the event. Please note that Bath’s Historic Venues do not supply the equipment for the playing of dance music or amplification of instruments.
The Assembly Rooms is wheelchair accessible.
We do not have any private parking available but the Assembly Rooms is within a short walking distance to both short stay and long stay car parks. The Bus and Railways stations are also within walking distance.
