Nestled in a pocket of six acres of woodlands, meadows and country fields, Abbots Court is a slice of Dorset heaven.
Located just off the A31, a mere 14 miles from Wimborne Minster or Poole makes it easily accessible for guests travelling to and from the wedding.
Weddings at Abbots Court offer guests the unique experience to enjoy a weekend (minimum) long experience with full and exclusive use of their country house, with onsite accommodation for 21 guests (plus the option of Bell Tents in their glamping area).
Choose from their converted Victorian Stables or the Walled Garden for your ceremony followed by the Pavilion and Walled Garden for your Wedding Breakfast and Evening Reception. Their part glazed pavilion boasts uninterrupted views of the garden with an outside bar, pizza oven, fire pit and pétanque lawn, all softly lit with subtle festoon. A choice of round or banqueting tables are available for the Wedding Breakfast with cross back oak chairs, subtle draping and impressive lighting. A fully stocked bar, designated stage, dancefloor and posh toilets mean you have everything on site for the perfect day.
The house itself sleeps up to 18 (plus 3 sofa beds) and they can also offer between 4-6 luxury bell tents just beyond the Walled Garden – perfect for friends!
All catering is outsourced and they have a varied, but excellent, list of suppliers that will ensure your day goes without a hitch. However, if you have your heart set on your own caterers this is something that can be discussed. Food trucks for the evening reception is not a problem.
They will be offering drinks package options and details of these should be available in the coming weeks. There will also be two bars operating on the day of the wedding. If you did want to bring in your own wine/Champagne, this is permitted for the drinks reception and wedding meal only.
Live bands are not an issue and there will be a raised area by the dancefloor (in the Pavilion) for them to set up. Please note they are licensed for amplified music until 11pm with all guests off site by Midnight, apart from those staying in the house and bell tents.
We only host Weddings between the months of April and October and yes, here at Abbots we host wedding experiences rather than just a wedding day. By only accepting one wedding a week means you can enjoy a minimum 2 night stay removing so much of the stress. Special rates also applied for any additional nights required.
We have created a small but personal list of recommended suppliers that we know will exceed your expectations. We only ask that you use one of our recommended caterers and have ensured we have picked a variety of different styles to ensure you get what you want on the day.
If you choose to have the ceremony in the Victorian Stables our maximum capacity is 90 although our sit down capacity for the Wedding Breakfast is 120 and 150 for the Evening Reception. Additional guests can still attend the Wedding Breakfast even if they cannot attend the ceremony. For outdoor ceremonies the number increases to 120.
Yes, our sister property, Almer Manor is located less than 10 minutes from Abbots Court. A stunning Georgian Country House that can sleep up to 16. All our wedding couples are offered first refusal on Almer Manor when confirming a wedding with us.
Unfortunately due to the close proximity of the beautiful village of Winterborne Kingston we cannot have amplified music played outside after 11pm. Guests must be off site by midnight but this does not apply to guests staying overnight.
