A ‘Home Tour’ of Wedding Weekends at The Copse

Written by Emma Hla
Wedding Weekends at The Copse has been part of our collection since 2016 and I must say, you guys LOVE it. The combination of it being a home-from-home coupled with the flexibility you desire and the odd bohemian quirky touch means you fall head over heels for this gorgeous spot in the Oxfordshire countryside.

At the beginning of the year I ventured out on a road trip to discover everything this venue had to offer for myself and well, I was pretty bowled over too. Our collection is curated in the sense that we only list venues that we could see ourselves marrying at, whatever style that might be. We’re also pretty fussy when it comes to photography so will always try our best to showcase our venues with photography that speaks to our soul. With this in mind, there is no one better than Hannah Duffy Photography to capture a venue in its raw state and I can’t wait to give you a ‘Home Tour‘ of The Copse.

Your home-from-home

Unlike a grand stately house, when you arrive at The Copse, down a picturesque and bumpy country lane, it really is like pulling into a friends house. But then you step out and the beauty of the surroundings, the extent of the house and the facilities on offer start to unfold… and it’s never ending. Everywhere you look there’s something else to see, another spot to explore and quite frankly I could have moved in.

The light filled, oak framed house and interiors are somewhere between a country cottage, a Scandi chalet and a Martha’s Vineyard holiday rental. When you enter through the large oak door just off a pretty festoon-light-filled courtyard, the house is immediately super comfortable. The owner, Penny, and her team are really very aware of not being seen or heard (unless you need them of course!) during your stay. Once the keys are handed over to you they’re off and you guys can settle in and prepare your wedding weekend with your friends & family.

Stay, play and marry

The house has 9 bedrooms sleeping 18 guests, each individually decorated with locally sourced linens and artefacts. I definitely could have smuggled out a pom-pom throw or two. All stylish and comfortable, your close guests will thank you for such beautiful accommodation. There’s even a separate space for the boys (for those night-before-the-wedding traditionalists!).

The Copse nudges you to relax, but it’s also a place you can keep connected if you need/want to. The venue has hi-speed WiFi everywhere as well as a Sonos system both inside and out. You’ll also find an intimate cinema room with Sky, Netflix, and countless DVDs for your viewing pleasure!

The key thing about The Copse is that you can stay for 3 nights in a stunning house that is all your own. Other venues have overnight accommodation but they are a ‘destination’ wedding in that their couples can stay, play and marry over 4 days. Yes folks, FOUR WHOLE DAYS. Along with the home-from-home self catering, everything (apart from the food and wine) is included – that way couples can make a fair comparison on price when venue hunting.

Freedom and flexibility

At Wedding Weekends at The Copse you can be as formal or as laid back as you like. There is total freedom when it comes to choosing your suppliers and planning your event, so each wedding they host is different! That being said, if you’re finding it all a little daunting then the team can certainly point you in the right direction and recommend some of their fave suppliers who have previously worked at the house.

There is room for up to 120 guests and summer receptions usually take place under their two stunning stretch tents in the garden. You can see some fabulous images of this over on their listing right here. They also now have their acoustic barn which is a solid, warm party space to complement the courtyard and the deck area. I loved it in here, especially the bar area with industrial touches and a nordic nod.

Exclusive use and privacy

Across the 22 acres you will also find a hot tub, fire pits, lighting in the trees, a bar bar space (for you to use with your own alcohol), a cinema room, a natural pond, an Arctic cabin BBQ and plenty of chill out spaces. There is also onsite parking for you and your guests. You’ll have exclusive use of all of this and total privacy for your wedding.

I’d like to thank Penny and Kelly for being really quite wonderful hosts for our visit. We were utterly spoilt with a tour and a yummy lunch that included homemade soup, cheese, bread, wine and the BEST lemon posset that I’ve ever tasted.

If all of the above sounds pretty perfect for you too, then you can discover the venue at www.weddingweekends.co.uk, you can email them at thecopse@weddingweekends.co.uk or you can call the team on 01189 722 772.
