Laura: Bruisyard Hall is a glorious old house, dating back to 1354, in the East of Suffolk near to our beautiful and vibrant heritage coast. The Hall was originally an abbey and during its long life has been home to princesses, knights, recusants, aristocrats and country farmers alike.

Though much loved, it had fallen into serious disrepair at the end of the 1980s, but was brought back into good use as a rural holiday let, and more recently in 2011 – 12 underwent a huge renovation project, conserving, restoring and modernising as required to create the luxurious country estate for hire that we now see.

This achievement was topped off by our being awarded 5* status and Gold by Visit England for 2014.

The fundamental concept of a stay at Bruisyard Hall is that it becomes your very own country estate for the duration of your visit. Exclusive use is a frequently chosen option among our wedding couples (giving them full and private use of the whole Hall, Barn and 700 acre estate) and can really give the whole party a sense of freedom and escape from the everyday in these beautiful surroundings, which is a feeling we think is really important in helping to create the perfect wedding day and something that can be difficult to achieve at a lot of conveyor belt wedding ‘venues’.

Your wedding is something special and the setting here reflects that. From our own high standards of presentation and organisation to the little details such as the bottle of champagne we leave for our wedding couples on their arrival or the fresh flowers in the Hall, the bottom line at Bruisyard Hall is quality. We have an in-house concierge service on hand to attend to catering, transport, additional accommodation, the evening’s entertainment, stocking the larder with delicious local produce or really whatever our guests can think of.

It is then my job as Events Manager to plan with our couples exactly how they want their wedding day to go and to be there making sure it all runs smoothly on the day, so they can relax and savour it.

We are always saying how no two Bruisyard weddings are the same but I do think this is true; it is partly due to the character of the place and partly down to this attention to detail which drives our whole team, helping our wedding couples to really make the place their own and making our jobs really enjoyable.

We do get asked to do some pretty unusual things for wedding parties and it sometimes amazes me what can be achieved! It’s a really characterful place with so much of a sense of history and the whole team take great pride in it, something which I think truly comes across in our standards and in the appearance of the estate.
