Eynsham Hall is a decedant and imposing Jacobean manor from the outside; inside its mix of traditional and eclectic design lives by the motto ‘stately not stuffy’!

This Oxfordshire wedding venue is hosting an Open Day on Sunday 26th June and you can view all the event details here. So if you want to discover this stunning location then this is the perfect opportunity.

If you can’t quite wait until then, have a little explore below with today’s ‘Home Tour’…

Notes from Eynsham Hall

Eynsham Hall:

Eynsham Hall is one of Oxfordshire’s great country houses. In the early 1700s, wealthy local landowner, Willoughby Lacey, chose to enclose a huge section of his land to create the ultimate space in which to entertain guests and to pursue the popular outdoor sports of the day. Originally very typically Georgian, with Greek-style columns and an ostentatious interior Eynsham was re-built in 1908 by architect Sir Ernest George who specialised in Elizabethan-style buildings.

His interiors for Eynsham Hall were finely decorated in Jacobean style, complete with oak panelling, stone fireplaces salvaged from French châteaux and plasterwork ceilings in the Inigo Jones style. We bet you didn’t know that for 35 years from 1946, Eynsham Hall was a District Police Training Academy. Thousands of Police Constable recruits passed through the Hall’s doors and many return to reminisce about their first taste of police life!

Now the Grade II listed hotel, set upon 3,000 acres of rolling parkland, provides a whimsical blend of elegant period features with a twist of modern design. You can choose to visit for afternoon tea after a long walk in the Oxfordshire countryside or simply a good cuppa complete with homemade fudge, stay in our favourite room, No.35, with it’s roll top copper bath or even choose to celebrate one of the most important days of your lives with an Eynsham Wedding!

Eynsham has recently undergone an extensive renovation, with the interior styling and brasserie design managed by London based Project Orange, an award winning design and architecture practice. Project Orange, inspired by the Mason family and their copper mining history have drawn the character of this extraordinary building into the present day. Mixing in a little English eccentricity you can expect neon chandeliers and a copper bar with the classic and unmistakable patterns of William Morris and a heavy dose of quirky charm from old police memorabilia to taxidermy and modern artwork!

Hannah O’Sullivan is the resident and dedicated wedding specialist at Eynsham Hall and will oversee your wedding, from first contact to congratulations as a married couple! Nothing is too much trouble and she will ensure that you relax and enjoy the full experience. It’s easy to get to, but hard to leave! With a licence to hold your ceremony and accommodation for up to 150 guests Eynsham can create your dream wedding!

Couples can expect perfect photo opportunities in the beautiful landscaped gardens with fountains and terraces, complimentary toastmaster, red carpet, the list is endless but entirely created and curated by you.

What’s more at the end of the day you can retire to your sinfully comfortable bed (the same mattresses that Her Majesty favours) in the bridal suite, a little luxury to end the celebrations and the perfect place from which to wake up as a married couple as you start the beginning of the rest of your lives together!

Feeling peckish..? Occupying what was once the Mason family’s billiard room the brand new Brasserie at Eynsham prides itself on uncomplicated, unrushed, authentic seasonal British food. With Head chef Simon Bradley focusing on sourcing ingredients from local suppliers and farms including the famous Kelmscott pork, reared just a few miles away!

Betty, an ingenious smoker made from an old industrial fridge, creates the gloriously smoked produce and really adds to the menu. If Afternoon Tea is your thing – and we don’t know many people who’s it isn’t – then the menu at Eynsham, served either in the brasserie, the lounge or on the terrace will not disappoint, lovingly made in house the miniature lemon tart decorated with edible flowers is a favourite!

The bride and groom can except no less attention to detail for their wedding breakfast, a three course extravaganza presented by the Eynsham brigade of chefs will leave your guests both full and in awe!

I’m. in. love.

‘Stately not stuffy’, your experience at this venue will be grand and luxurious but with enough whimsical detail and home comfort to allow you to make yourself at home for a truly memorable experience!

If you too have fallen for the charms of Eynsham Hall then you can find all of their details right here.

Lots of love…
